Yup, heap of pro Huewai keyboard warrior, which doesn't seem to reflect what they're saying and not many buyer are snapping up this so called bargain.

So we can only upvote deals when we buy the product from the deal. Good to know, noted.

In the news this phone is sold less than 100 dollars in UK as it is not supported by google any more. Then I would pay no more than $100 for the phone.

    • +1

fake news? Huawei's devices have no google issue in Mainland China,

They can move stock back to China rather than down the price.

      • They cannot use android and google does not supply or support them any more. Even they will have problem to get parts to make their phones. They have just 6months stock by the news.

      • They need to pay for the shipment and warehouse, change phone's package and charger, and reload OS for the Chinese market. all these chores will probably cost Huawei $100-200 per unit. Also as huawei's market share is too big in western Europe, if they choose to ship everything back, the Chinese market may be unable to digest them fast enough before klin 990 or snapdragon 865 is released (by then the current model will depreciate significantly).I think huawei will prefer give some discount rather than ship them back (but $100 a phone is definitely impossible)

All you mentioned steps would cost less than $20 AUD or even less than $10 if in high volume.

Can you substantiate that statement where it is sold for < $100 in the UK?

      https://www.gumtree.com/search?q=huawei+mate+20+pro&search_l… : Lowest 300 pounds (USED)

https://www.hotukdeals.com/search?q=huawei+mate+20+pro : Lowest 329 pounds (posted 28/05, deal now expired)

Or are you instead referring to trade in values for USED devices?

      https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/science-technology/1131…

And it appears some retailers have significantly lowered the cost they are prepared to pay customers trading in recent Huawei flagships.
For instance reputable UK outlet musicMagpie is currently https://www.musicmagpie.co.uk/start-selling/basket-condition… offering Mate 20 Pro owners a mere £75 for a device considered to be in "good" condition.
This figure tumbles to £37.50 if the handset is in "poor" condition and £7.50 if it is "faulty".

(btw 75 pounds converts to $136.50)

      • To demonstrate just how exponentially low the offers from musicMagpie are, the Apple iPhone 7 that launched back in 2016 is currently worth £135 if it sold to the outlet in "good" condition.

Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 that launched back in August is being priced at £350 in the same "good" state.

Finally, Apple's iPhone X that launched in 2017 is said to be worth £442 if owners trade it in.

It is worth noting other notable Huawei flagships such as the P20 Pro and the P30 Pro are similarly said to be worth £100 or less by musicMagpie.

Just some more copy and paste from the article for the trade in values cos the browser/website wouldn't let me at work

      • Another edit/update, appears hotukdeals have a lot of secondhand of varying grades mixed in that search 451.28 and 499 pounds are for brand new prices now that I have looked again

A lesson learned for Huawei who has been playing dirty games around the world. They can beat any competitors because they have unlimited financial support from the Chinese government, in return they have to send back stolen technologies and spying. That’s why Huawei is the only big company has never been IPO because they fear of the transparency.

    • You failed finance class in day 1……
Now go and learn why companies want to go for IPO.

    Google tracks all your move

Microsoft stores your files on their cloud

Facebook sells their data for research

Amazon has access to your files stored on AWS

    Alexa listens your conversation

    But Long live China hehehe

All those things are done openly by China.

      https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-18/china-social-credit-a…

      • actually thats a good thing. helps dealing with criminals. either significantly increase punishment for repeated offences or do some citizen ranking thing like china. non violent crimes literally go unpunished in australia, police doesnt care at all about home robbery (2 times for me) and other thiefs. with their social credit im sure their home robbery is much lower % than aus. just remember back in the days in france people get guillotined for almost any crime, whereas nowadays many inmates have been in the system since 15, no punishment at all for repeated offenders. those were the days.

        • +1

I agree with your point that this sort of state surveillance is good for crime prevention if it stops there. This credit system goes above and beyond that like if I don't agree with govt policies or criticize local authorities or like or dislike some social media posts even those thing can affect my social credit. Everyone should be entitled to their opinion.

It's my way or the Huawei

  • Why people think they can not use google apps in 90 days? All existing huawei phones with play store can still continue to use. All new phones comes without playstore or google app can install independence app store to install google service, then get all google apps back. Many independence app stores to choice. Google Apeoide.

Also it's probably the last flagship phone on Android for a either fail company because of political reason, or from a successful company that going to have their own OS. It's a phone that worth for collections.

  • can we keep discussion about huawei dealing with policies or the ban away from this thread? big issue is bootloader..

is it me or what? p30 pro and mate 20 pro seems to be the same..only different are Camera…

    • Nah mate.. The face ID is a huge diff..

      • dealing with camera aswell? don't care about faceid and never will…

        • ok well u should have mentioned lol

  • Come on Mobileciti bring back the offer for the P30 pro :)

  • Do people think the price for the mate 20 pro will drop even further or is this the best we gonna get?

    • +1

Before Huawei make an official release about the fate of future updates on Huawei devices, all resellers will just wait hence the price not gonna go down significantly. If Huawei can find a solution to that then this is probably the best price you can get. If not then you should see a very good deal for Huawei devices in the near future, but whether you still want to buy Huawei phone knowing that there will be no more updates that's a different story.

  • Mate 20 pro back to Android Q beta list now:
    https://developer.android.com/preview/devices

  • Looking at buying one and install https://openkirin.net/ Anyone has success with OpenKirin? Never bought Huawei before so need some advice. Thanks!

    • Hmm there's no good way to unlock bootloader, it seems. Forget about it!

  • My aunt, bought P30 Pro for holidays and i tell you, as a iphone user for 10 years, this Huawei has blown me away for just the camera. Hands down the best. I personally compared with sony, samsung, lg, older huawei, etc for just the camera, and I can say iPhone is good enough. But P30 Pro is the only one that I am seriously considering switching away from iOS.

  • Should i buy P30pro or wait for Mate 30 pro?

  • What's the likely hood of this deal coming back or something similar?

Just Samsung S8 is on its last legs
