Is alexa better than Google? I wonder what name Huawei gonna come out with it's assistant, because I'm not saying Hong Meng…

    • I prefer Google's system myself, but it depends on your use case. This is a great deal either way if you're looking to get set up with smart speakers for the first time.

    • +1

      Yes, way better

Alexa has better skill support (apps).

Alexa is better at getting your voice requests from music streaming services right imo.

      • I not sure about that one

  • Can you pair them together?

    • +2

Yes, two echos and 1 sub. All wireless connection. Amazing sound…

    • This comment in the video below caught my eye.

But what Amazon so eloquently leaves out is that unless you use their music services, the subwoofer will not work and music will only play out of one echo speaker device if you connect with Bluetooth or Auxiliary #SHAME

So it might be best to research a bit more, if non-Amazon music services is your intention.

      • +3

Doesn't say you have to use amazon prime music, as long as its a wireless network music service like spotify, amazon music, etc, which most people that are buying this will most likely use

        -

Echo Sub must be paired with a compatible Echo device. Echo Sub is optimised for Echo (2nd Gen) and Echo Plus (2nd Gen) devices. Currently, stereo pairing, speaker groups and multi-room music only support music playback over your wireless network, and do not support Bluetooth, 3.5mm AUX in or TV/video connections. Some Echo devices support different stereo and subwoofer configurations. Learn more.
        • Good to know; the person posting obviously misunderstood.
Hopefully it does work as suggested.

Nice. 8% cashback on Echo devices. Should bring it down close to $200.

    • Shopback comes up as 12% for me…

      • +3

12% is only on Clothing, Shoes, Watches and Jewellery categories. Echo devices are 8%. Click "Cashback" and then click "19 more offers" to see the full list.

If you playing music via Bluetooth then only 1 speaker playing only what a rip….

    • Who plays via Bluetooth now days with Spotify, Amazon music etc all via wireless

      • If you're streaming wireless music, you can't use Google play music for these devices I think. Not sure about Spotify. Amazon music in Australia is $12 monthly :(

        • Just ask for a song, artist or genre from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, Spotify, iHeartRadio, TuneIn and more. With multi-room music, you can play music on Echo devices in different rooms. Echo can play Audible audiobooks, radio stations, news briefings and read kindle ebooks. Services may require subscriptions or other fees; Bluetooth not supported for multi-room music.

      • how about Tidal not every one use Spotify

        • Its in the supported list of UK so guess maybe Australia as well

  • Good find!

sterio + sub setup only works for music, not movies etc

  • I am weighing up whether or not I should get this or the Google Home Max. Leaning towards the Google Home Max.

    • about $140 more

You don't think your tone is a bit much mate?

Like I even posted as screenshot showing the deal, obviously Amazon have updated to remove the double up. Calm down a bit..

      • +1

Not a mistake, it’s just expired. Settle down. No need to be a jerk.

There was an additional 20% discount when you buy 2 x Echo 2nd gen & 1 x Echo Sub. Discount was calculated on the retail price:

    2 x 2nd gen Echo@$149 = 298
    1 x Echo Sub@199 = 199
    ==497
    Prime Promotions:
    2nd gen Echo - buy 2 save = 99
    2nd gen Echo discount = 30
    Echo Sub discount = 50
    20% discount @497 = 99.40
    ==278.40

the 20% discount has ended, hence you missed the $99.40

  • Can these seriously not be used with a free Spotify account?
