Westworld S1 & S2 Box Set (S1:4K UHD+Blu-Ray/S2:4K UHD Only) $38.00 + Delivery @ JB Hi-Fi

850

Very specific combo but great deal if you want Westworld sets with 4K Ultra HD. Price seems to latch on to the 2 for $50 deal on 4K UHD but come in at $20 each set when added to cart - don't ask me why (Thanks Mawne for pointing out it stacks with 20% off Bluray/DVD/4K sale)! Note Season 1 (ticketed at $55.98) has Extras/4K UHD+Bluray but Season 2 (at $47.98) only 4K UHD discs.

If you add the 5% code (as per deal www.ozbargain.com.au/node/461366) you'll snag another $1 off each set for a grand total of $38 C&C or add delivery. As these are HBO series titles, you could add extra HBO titles to bring your total over $50 and get yourself a $20 voucher as well (as per deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/451325).

    Great show.

    Well, season one anyway.

true S2 was WTF, I think I gave up as it needed too much brain power to follow what was going on.

      • +6

It worked better if you turned off your brain.

Too much thinking, and the whole premise collapsed.

        • Nah, it's the people that turn off their brains (or have none), are the ones that stopped watching after Episode 3.

I would say I didn't enjoy Season 2 that much, simply for the fact that it was extremely derivative of Season 1 in terms of structure and twist. And the finale didn't leave a satisfying conclusion, it basically felt like it stopped mid-season. I get it, Season 1 was quite slow as well, but it gets a pass because it was using that time for world building and character development. Season 2 didn't need to remind us everything again in painful slow repeat. In fact, one person could actually watch the Recap of Season 1 (5 mins), then watch Season 2, and not miss out on anything substantial, since, the details are repeated.

I'm hopeful for Season 3, I just wish it uses a different format. The double-timeline plot is quite exhausted now and predictable.

Yes, S1 was riveting. In S2 i gave up after episode 3

    • +2

season 2 is even better, if you could follow the storyline.

have a look at it here —> https://www.insider.com/westworld-timeline-spoilers-2018-4

it really explained it very, very well to me.

      • +9

I dont want to watch a series AND THEN have to go some where else to read the explanation…

Thats what happened after season 2-3 LOST.

        • +2

Then just pay attention and you'll be fine.

      • +2

I also enjoyed the challenge of comprehending S2. The end of S1 taught us that events were being shown out of sequence. S2 took that to a much higher level.
There’s plenty of other shows you can consume without having to think. This is definitely a show for the thinkers.

      • +14

S2 isn't that complicated. they just intentionally adopted a confusing way of telling the story for no defensible reason.

there's a couple of great episodes, but it's clearly a step down on S1. it's got nothing to do with not understanding it.

        • +1

pretty much. I think they wanted to emulate the big timeline twist of Season 1 but failed.

    • And I thought it was just me. Season 1 was great, I didn't make it through episode 1 of series 2.

  • +5

Seems to work with other 4k 2 for 50$ sets aswell, tried Venom Steelbook and Westworld s2 for 40$.

Edit: Figured it out, the 20% off all bluray/dvd/4k stacks with the 2 for 50$ and 3 for 40$ deals. Time to stock up on movies!

  • Just ordered Westworld 1+2 for c&c, cheers :)

  • Best show

  • +7

    I dont see anything

    • +2

Doesn't look like anything to me.

  • Good deal, got it with Game of Thrones Season 7 bluray, hopefully I get the $20 voucher soon.

  • +9

I ceased all motor functions when I saw this deal

  • +3

It doesn't look like anything to me.

  • +1

Season 2 was alright, but you shouldn't have to watch Youtube explainer videos on every episode just to understand what the hell's going on. Hopefully the next season is more coherent and easy to follow.

    • Which parts were difficult to understand?

    • +1

It's best watched twice (both seasons). I noticed so much more detail viewing season 2 for the second time.

  • WW. I thought it was Wonder Woman.

  • +1

Was just sitting here thinking gee am I a thinker? Looks like I'm giving S2 a bash then.

  • Picked mine up, season 1 is a steelbook case. Nice.

    • Is that for all season 1s or a gamble?

      • Well it looks like the photo on the JB Hifi page.

It’s actually not a steelbook though, it’s a “tin case” with the normal case inside it.

  • Wow great deal for such a superb show. Pity I mainly do streaming now. Haven't touched a disc for yonks.

  • Tried purchase two bluray, pay by PayPal.
and I keep getting the following error:

"The status of an item in your cart has changed. An item in your cart may no longer be available.
    Invalid fulfilment option"

Tried to remove the items, clear the browser cache, log in again still the same error

Perhaps their 2 for $50 price error is causing it???

Should be 2 for $50 but the cart is showing $40

    @JBHI Please fix it.

    • It’s not a price error. There’s 20% off at the moment.

  • +1

Great show, but I avoid buying box sets that aren't complete. S3 is a year or so away but yea…

    • They're 2 separate tins. Just gotta hope they keep releasing subsequent seasons in that format too. But I get you mate. I'd cry if someone gifted me a GoT S1-7 boxset.

      • I bought the 1-5 box set of GoT but have no regrets. Except my collection looks a bit disjointed.

  • +2

I don't get the hate for season 2. Pretty easy to follow and had some great scenes. One of the best US shows in the last few years imo.

  • Has anyone found similar bargains to this on 4K boxed sets during this sale?

    • Works to get 20% off items in the Blu-Ray & 4K UHD (3/$40) or 4K UHD (2/$50) sales plus the 5% code if you want to use it. I wish there was a bit more in the 2/$50 sale in the way of Boxed Sets but maybe next time!

  • +1

Thanks, I used a RACQ JbHiFi 4% off giftcard to bring the total down to $36.48 C&C

  • I ended up purchasing for a pickup for $38 total.

Pretty good price, the first optical media I've purchased in quite a while as I mostly stream these days.

It's a great show even though season 2 is a bit of a letdown.

I plan to rewatch both seasons with a mate that hasn't watched it yet and as I recently got myself a 65 inch Hisense TV I will be looking forward to watching it it in 4K HDR.
