Mod note: Catalogue is VIC Metro. Frantelle 600ml Spring Water is now 20 pack, drink prices may be slightly elevated interstate (NSW, QLD, SA, NT) due to container deposit schemes.

  • Thanks for the early look. Prices will vary for drinks from state to state though as this is victorian catalogue. Definitely more expensive for drinks in nsw unfortunately.
    Cheers

  • Baby love nappies are my pick for night time at the moment. Aldi nappies are so cheap but not absorbent enough overnight

    • How do they compare to huggies? My son still leaks in huggies, thinking of giving baby love a go

      • Babylove far superior to Huggies.

      • As above… I used to like Huggies in New born but the larger sizes don't seem as good. I know baby love used to have a worse reputation but I can get ten hours overnight without leaks.

The new 'norms' - 100 Twinings for 5.50

Coles is our "2nd Cousin, once removed"
      supermarket.

      • Ask them to get a cheaper "wheel of
Norwegian cheese, they buy 'em but the
sell wedges of it WAY over Woolies' $$

      (Less than optimal purchasing, which
      likely explains the Ham issue…?)

      • No home/business deliveries (they
let Woolies do the hard yakka)

      Businesses can save 4% order'g $200+
Some can use discount ($8+) to "cut"
the Taxi fare, IF business is close
enough to their Coles pick-up point

      • Coles bakes the most cost-effective
        7-seed Bread (800g for $3), but are
happy if the shelf is Empty B4 5 pm

      • City Coles provide a $2 voucher, if
        they don't have a regularly-stocked
product when you want to buy it

      • Try to use the trivial voucher cost
to give them incentive to bake More
and you may find yourself being Har-
assed in country Coles stores, even
in towns with competition (2x Woll-
worths + a Foodland, in 1 SA town),
or any number of delays ocurr.

When we passed thru, staff wouldn't
admit to knowing about $2 vouchers!

Finally finding a pad of them, they
were slow to issue, rather than get
      more product on-shelf mext time.

Staff didn't know to ask f 1, when
they found no-stock of some product
they wanted to buy for themselves.

      • Long delays in "call'g someone who
can help you" to the service desk &
(after you get a belated nod from 1
such some1) that person needs yet
another person to OK, eg, price-chng
(ie, if you accept a substitute):

      • Good subst'n: 2x 400g loaves of the
        same 7-seed bread repriced-total: $3
(Each discounted by $1 for parity.)

      • Bad subst'n (offer, not accepted):
        some1 grabs a "dim" non-bakery made
        product, with higher sugar content,
& says: "Take it or Leave it"

      • Wollies' "can do" VS Coles "too hard"
(and/or "We don't do that for YOU")
is a gulf that badly needs bridging.

(Such a Coles will surely find good
      reason to improve Customer Service,
eg, after ALDI's moves into town.)

Is it different in other Coles towns?

      • I like Heinz 535g Soups for $1.75, but
we won't pay same price for, eg:

        • Campbells' 505g or 500g cans
          are they -below- 500g? :~/
  • Ripper tune boris
