Product Description

A film by Luc Besson

Set in the 23rd century, Luc Besson's The Fifth Element takes us to a world vastly different from that which we know today.

For ex-Marine Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), life has become tediously repetitive: he drives a flying cab for a living, and eats take away from the same Chinese restaurant, which delivers directly to his window, every day. But little does Korben know, a great extra-terrestrial Evil has teamed up with Zorg (Gary Oldman), and threatens to destroy the Earth, an event which can only be prevented by combining the four Earthly elements with an alien "Fifth" element. Soon, Korben finds himself a pivotal figure in saving the Earth when a beautiful alien, Leeloo (Milla Jovovich), falls through the roof of his cab, and turns out to be the elusive fifth element.

In the ultimate battle of good versus evil, only Korben and Leeloo control the key to humanity's survival. And the clock is ticking…

I remember this movie fondly, and I know it's good…

But I find it hard to watch now. Honestly it's aged horribly.

    • +11

      No it hasn't. :)

    • Agreed. It seems a bit silly now. Was it meant to be semi-serious when it first came out?

      • +1

Nah it was always meant to be humorous.

      • I remember watching it when I was young, and it felt so amazing futuristic and crazy. Despite that one black guy, it never seemed to me it was trying to be humorous.

Watching it now, everything seems so bulky and excessive. Hunger games theme on steroids.

        Still, good story.

It’s in the vein of Starship Troopers.

There’s a message in there somewhere but just can’t find it amongst the craziness…

    • yep before heavy cgi… story is good. it's based of a comic and Valerian is from the same author.

    • +1

      Love this movie. Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!

  • +3

  • +5

Casualty of the SBS five repeat marathon.

Aww sold out - "This caaaise is empty" - "multi-pass" - love this movie..

  • Hope this was a rerelease and not the terrible quality MPEG2 version…

    • +1

The extras would make it worth $3.73

    • +1

According to Amazon AU it was released on 18 Aug 2010 so i would say that this is the superior MPEG4 version instead which is better.

  • Just bought one. Back in stock?

  • Who's here would want Milla Jovovich to fall into their taxi or lap?

  • I just ordered one, in stock for me. :)

  • Was just watching this in 4k last night, really great to discover again! Buy!

  • RIP physical media

  • Ruby Rhod’a takeoff scene’s best. Spirit of Tasmania should introduce hibernation - most boring 10 hours ever.
