  • One side is USB type C, what is the other side? Can you use it to charge an iphone?

    • +2

Looks like a non-standard double-sided USB type A plug. It's definitely not a lightning connector, so you won't be able to use it to charge your iPhone.

That is very clever! (if it works reliably)
Though they really should be clearer in the ad that it is a non-standard type-A.

There would be some risk of it damaging the socket if strained/wiggled too much.

They are cool but realistically, there might not be enough force to hold a good connection. Depends on where you plug it in unfortunately.
          Depends on the connector.

          • @String name: Yes, I would have to say Blind Mate Connector is a brilliant idea so you don't have to worry which side is up, but agree, might not be a good idea to appy to USB plug. It still worths trying

The exact same can be said of literally every cable ever.

            @Tacooo: No.
Have a look at a usb-A socket. this plug will be pushing the plastic tongue on only one side.

@bargaino: We're talking about a USB port, not a crystal vase. I've had many of these and not once have they ever had a problem. I think you're making a mountain out of a mole-hill.

              • +1

@Tacooo: "There would be some risk" is a mountain?

I think it wise to be a bit careful with these non-compliant plugs. Engineers are not designing or testing for this.

Had a USB stick with this type of double-sided type A connector in the past. As there's no sturdy metal part to hold it in place, the connection is not very secure. Should be fine for desk use but I won't use it on the go, e.g. for powerbank.

  • Purchased a baseus lightning cable via.ebay October 2018 worked fine until a couple of months ago and an apple iOS update. Maybe it was a fault in the cable but could have been a licensing issue. Has anyone had similar problems?

    • +2

Don't have any myself but most Baseus cables aren't yet MFi certified so you do run the risk of that happening when you buy one unfortunately.

  • Cant complete the order, keeps giving me an error saying "billing state required" even though the details already inside

    • Sounds odd, did have other orders came in without issue. Do you want me take you offline creating an order in backend? Thanks
