    USB interface - does MPEG-4 - nice.

    • ntfs or fat32?

      • donno, was just looking at the site…

something like this with a network media player built in would be awesome.
(or atleast the ability to add a USB stick in for network)

    • Does this mean it supports Divx/Xvid or h.264?

      • no h.264

        • Damn… was hoping it would be. I guess it is Fully DVB-T Compliant and not freeview compliant i.e. supporting h.264.

        • I say that based on the:

•Built in DVD player – Multi OSD language supported. Multi audio and subtitles language supported. Full Compatibility with DVD, CD, MP3, WMA, JPEG, CD-R, DVD+⁄-RW, MPEG-4.

unless they didnt specify H.264/MPEG-4 /(MPEG-4 AVC)

    • Awesome Price too since I haven't seen any cheapies on ebay for less than this price but certainly not Brand new so plus from me

  • Wow…$10 per inch! :) Plus from me!

      thats what she said :P

      • +2

        $69

        • +2

          IEC Female antenna input

    • What was the $1 discount for then?

      • For being able to use all 7 inches???

  • +1

    They still make these?

  • Should I assume that the tuner is HD considering todays standards?

    • i'm afraid that's being a little optimistic - this one is only SD

      • will it pick up HD channels like ONE, GEM, GO, 7MATE etc???

        • -1

Those are digital TV channels so one would assume so

        • No it won't, SD channels will only pick up the SD channels. HD channels may show up in the list but they will be scrambled if so. (Source: I have an old SDTV at home)

        • +2

Just got off the phone with dsonline. they said it would pick up all the regular digital channels i.e. go, gem, 7mate etc but will display them in normally and not in HD

edit: toomuch it has a digital tuner so it does pick up digital channels, just not in HD

        • Ah ok, so that must mean it has a HD tuner in it, but obviously a non-HD screen! :)

        • -2

no toomuchfur, it has a digital tuner in it. all those channels are digital tv, whether u watch them in HD or not is another issue altogether ;)

        • +7

No that's not it - I don't want to be a nazi, but I feel that the distinction is important:

And then there's more to say about the panel quality itself but it doesn't matter… if it can get ONE HD, GEM and other HD exclusive channels, its a HD tuner. And that's all we can ask of it, really!

EDIT: Noticed that niksrulz below has declared its actually an SD tuner - so no ONE HD and GEM!

  • does anyone have this? whats the quality of tv signal like? and dvd?

    • +1

can always suss it and then take advantage of their return policy gavman

      • +1

too true.. bought one abt an hr ago.. at 69$ too good not to snap up and alway can return if its turns out hopeless but dse brand normally have decent quality product from previous experiense

      • in fact thats exactly what i am doing :P

  • +2

So, I can finally retire my 25 year old, 2 inch Casio black & white! Yay, LOL! Thanks!

  • has it got an epg?

    • Im assuming it has inbuilt antenna?

  • Nice, if only it says A/V input anywhere in the spec sheet… I could've used it as replacement for the rear view camera lcd

  • Looks very good, bought a LG without TV function for $110 last month. This one is $40 less and with free TV.

  • Wouldn't TV reception be bad without a roof antenna plugged in?

    • WELL THATS THE 100000$ QUESTION..GUESS ULL KNOW AFTER U TEST IT

    • if you sit under the broadcast tower, you will not have any issues, otherwise you can miss a few channels!

  • +8

    I bought a month ago ,
Can confirm that its picks only digital channels and does not show HD channels like Gem or One HD..
But its shows 7mate , go ,etc
Also The antenna is provided with it to help receive the signal.
Qaulity of the Product is Good.

    • +6

Also , It plays a lot of formats using usb straightaway no conversion required from pc

    • So it will pick up Channel 11 but not ONE.. not even ONE in SD?

      • -1

One is broadcasted in HD and SD. You should be able to pick the SD on this one.

        • yep i thought so.

        • +2

One is no longer broadcast in SD, at least here in Adelaide. I had to upgrade my PVR to continue watching One. The SD channel disappeared this year.

        • I have not done much recording with my SD hard disk recorder - have to check if it is still available in Melbourne

hey Dick, can u shed light on any of the above queries?

      • -3

You're making a lot of people confuse by addressing his first name like that Bemy.

  • Can this be plug into a monitor?

  • Great deal. How would you mount it on the headrest?

    • +2

I think all mounting needs to be done via the IEC Female antenna input, I am sure Dick will be able to help with that.

  • for peoples info:

    http://www.freeview.com.au/pdf/channels_region2.pdf

all that have SD are compatible :P mind you this is melb only. you can choose your region from the site

    • so ONE, GEM, MATE are NOT compatible SD in melb cos not SD broadcasted??

  • its says it plays mp4….does it play xvids off usb???

    cheers

  • Would really like to know the real world performance & tv reception in a moving car. Anyone owning a unit care to share your experience?

    Happy Shopping!

  • Why if link shows the item as IN STOCK, has my order (placed late yesterday afternoon) now been changed to "Your order is on backorder and will be shipped when available".

That's false advertising that. You don't have stock, but are advertising that you do.

Right now, with my order on backorder, your site says this:

    "In Stock
Product normally ships next business day."

I just picked up mine at DSE Hornsby. Signal from the provided external antenna is good enough outdoors, it can get patchy indoors. DVD and media playback is great. Antenna has a magnetic base which is nice.

    Now for the negatives.

Response from the buttons or even the remote is slow, more than a second before the player gets to do it.
USB is mini usb. I cannot use my usb stick outright without using the dongle provided.

Overall I'm satisfied because its a cheap media, DVD player and TV.

  • Edit: The slowdown of the player's response only happens if there is a loss of signal by the tuner or the DVD player

I tried 1 of these late last year when they were over $100.
Returned it as the quality isnt the greatest and the reception wioth the antenna was rubbish.

I bought one of these recently and its great. LED 7 inch thats soldily built and inbuilt HD tuner with USB recording. Has AV in/out and changes channels quickly.

your one is 149.00 and dse one is $69..

  • ordered late last night.got sms from dse this morning saying ready for collection.picked up mine this afternoon at store.great service dse.jb and hn have to learn a few lessons from you.

  • -2

Yep its $149 and worth the extra $80 imo.
You will struggle to find any other portable lcd's with a inbuilt HD tuner.

    • oz bargain is for bargain…think $69 is the best price ever

  • almost sold, but no AV in… would be great to use as just a screen in the car for watching DVD's or for plugging into a HD STB at home.

    nice unit though.

  • Got mine today, seems to be OK although screen is a bit dotty but hey for $69 can't complain.
Reception is quite good surprisingly for me in lower north shore.
However when I played VOB files there is picture but no sound and MPEG-4 files not showing up at all maybe cannot read as not even listed in the file explorer at all, is it just me or anyone else tried theirs could confirm would be great!

  • back up to $119 now I think the deal has expired

  • i cant get reception in my house with this (i live in brisbane) that said i cant get reception with any rabbit ear external antennas, only the big one on the roof.

    • Same here, I even tried it in wide open spaces (with the antenna of course) and it didn't even work.

  • Just got it, it sucks. Returning it tomorrow
