Philips Sonicare Elite Plus $30 (1/2 Price) @ Woolworths

120

I was looking to buy the Xiaomi ultrasonic toothbrush but then saw this Woolies for $30 and decided to give it a go. Entry level but according to most reviews works just as good as the high end ones. Amazon (lowest I could find) has it at $39.
The refill brush heads are 1/2 price too.

Advice: the online catalogue has the older 2018 version (same model number and everything but green box) but you might be able to find the newer 2019 version (black box) in the isle. The difference seems to be the battery lifetime (14 vs 10 days as advertised on the box).

  • Oh I wish they had half price Sonicare replacement brush heads!

  • The refill heads are cheap! How often does Woolworths do half price on them?

    • Not 100% sure but I usually see the oral b electric toothbrushes and toothbrush heads at half price every 3 weeks.

      Just my observation.

      • Yeah this is the 1st time I've seen sonicare brush heads sales. I usually get them during eBay 10-20% offs but this is way better.

  • Is this any better than the oral-b, which is on sale pretty regularly?

    • also want to know head difference: one is spinning the other is shaking?

    • +1

The studies I've seen indicate that the efficacy of a rotating brush (like the Oral-B units) is greater. Also, your can get cheap replacement brush heads from places like Kogan.

    • I have both now :) can’t say much about the ultrasonics for now but my belief is those are like 2 different things. I’ve been using the Oral-B brushes for more than 10 years now and they’re great. But I got the ultrasonic one hoping it’d do better for gums and plaque at the bottom and in between teeth. So I’m gonna use the noisy one (Oral-B) in the morning and the quieter one (ultrasonic) at night :)

      • I was going to do this! Recently there was a sale on Shaver Shop, with 15% cashback it was around $75 for the $200 model.

Currently $99, with new customer code $89 but they had free postage over $30 and the huge cashback. I already just bought the Oral-B Smart 7 for $89 so I was 50/50.

This is legit cheap, but I doubt the motor is comparable to the top models. Any specs to compare?

  • I got one on the weekend and really happy I did.

I've wanted to try one of these for a long time but was wary of the cost of the upper end models, but I'll definitely be upgrading at some point when the right deal arises.
