This deal is accessed only through Wotif and cannot be price matched by the hotel directly. However, it is a very good deal and you won't get better anywhere else - I know, I've tried to get one through a friend who works there.

This deal is accessed through the mystery deal from wotif. Its technically a "WOT ROOM" deal which means that notionally you'll be given the superior room (their basic room) but you could potentially be given the Junior suite for the same price. As per most hotel deals, prices vary each night and are cheaper the closer the date is away. So I've booked in June for $149 instead of $199. Then I called the hotel directly the next day and paid $30 for a room upgrade plus $49 for a package deal which includes breakfast for 2 and a few extra things (these are standard upgrade prices for all guests).

Most days the saving is about $50.
Oh there is, of course, the $4.95 card fee that you pay as well to wotif but then thats that.

  I know it - I've booked it and in an interesting turn of events I booked an additional day directly with the hotel and the confirmation I received from the hotel has both days included and registers the payment made through wotif as a prepayment.

  So Now I have one reservation confirmation number which includes the booking I made directly with the hotel and the one I made through wotif.

  I went to Cairns this time last year, stayed at both Hilton (paid $160) and Pullman (paid $180). Both myself and my partner agrees Hilton's room is superior to Pullmans, its' bigger, more comfortable and better views, where when you stay at Pullman, the view's all blocked by the surrounding buildings.

  Personally I would not go back to Pullman anytime soon, and if you are willing to pay the price you mentioned above, I would strongly suggest you just top up another $10 and stay at Hilton, the experience is way better imo. :)

  fair enough. My partner stayed at the hilton for $125 over a year ago so it'll be interesting if she agrees with you. Hopefuly we did the right thing by paying for a water view room then.
