TCL 75" QUHD LED LCD 75P8M $1788 + Free Delivery (Bonus $200 Gift Card + $100 Cashback + Std 3 Yrs Warranty) @Harvey Norman

150

$200 cheaper than last time. Seems to be a great TV for the price.

Update - Just bought the TV and was told the $200 gift card was a mistake and would be removed soon. They still gave me the gift card as it was still on their site but said they would be updating the site as soon as they can.

  • dropping like it's hot.

Good thing I didn't buy two weeks ago, thanks OP

  • can anyone comment on TCL? the general rule around here/whirlpool is that Hisense>TCL

I see comments about crazy slow boot up times for TCL

    • +2

Had one and it was ridiculously slow. As in almost a minute. It had a power function for fast boot up but rarely worked unless you turned it on seconds after turning it off.

      I'd go hisense over tcl

    • I'll personally never buy another again. Slow and buggy and practically unusable apps after awhile.

Decent picture quality though. Just, provided constant headaches for what was supposed to be an easy TV for my mother.

I have the 2018 75"model. Had one issue, fixed quickly. Fast startup once you activate the option. So much faster than my previous Sony. I'll buy again.

Are these slow boot times on the older models? I thought the firmware updates from 2018 made it a much improved specimen

    • +2

I just bought meself the 2019 65inch one and rather impressed. With fast boot enabled, the tv is one in less than 5 seconds.

    • Depends on the model

Hard to beat TCL R615 (in the US), best bang for the buck

  • Good post and good price OP

  • How's the OS? Is it using Android TV?

  • I have a 2 years old Hisense 75 and a current TCL 65.

The Hisense just seems more responsive with a better organised Smart TV menu. Personally I would spend an extra couple of hundred for a Hisense but it's not a big deal either way.

    • Is Hisense a 3 year warranty? I had excellent service from the TCL technician who said I'll get a brand new TV if I have any other issues after my motherboard was replaced.

  • Dont forget $50 Cashback on Amex offers if you have an Amex card

Just bought one and Amex notifed me straight away it qualified and will see the $50 credit back in 5 days

  • Was still $1998 in store when I had a look

  • $1695 @JB with the bonus $100 Cashcard….for those who may have taken advantage of the $500 JB gift card with Telstra signup recently.

For those who have this one, thoughts? I’m undecided between this, a Hisense R6 or a Samsung RU7100. It’s been years since I’ve bought a new “decent” TV so no idea of the pros and cons these days.

    • Pretty sure the Hisense R6 is only 50Hz

I looked at the RU7100 as well and ended up going for the TCL.

I do not have it yet so cannot comment on how great it is, but im pretty excited

  • Looks like they've removed the $200 Gift Card.

  • I have been using this TV for 3 weeks now. Working great, startup times are quite alight, and it has android TV. Comes with a bonus voice function remote (haven't tried it so far). Good value for money and surely better than Samsung R7100 range.
