Got one of these from the last $800 (55") deal. Great TV so far. Responsive TV and remote great picture and sound, only slightly annoying thing is one touch buttons are set to Prime and Netflix, would have preferred YouTube. Ordered a $3 remote without these from AliExpress.
Was able to change the country to UK so I now have BBC iPlayer and other UK apps working with Getflix (all except Channel 4 app work fine).
The process was something like this, https://support.overplay.net/hc/en-us/articles/360000176033-… then once country is changed just install the apps and update the DNS to Getflix (or I expect other DNS). You lose the Australian apps, could also try USA or other country and can be changed back to Australia using same process.
Don't think you could brick your TV, but as usual at your risk.

Is there really that much difference? I can see why people go OLED. But isnt QLED just LED, but backlit as well as edge lit for triple the price?

Marketing indeed. To be fair, the QLED TVs are higher specced in general in terms of some of them having local dimming, higher brightness for HDR, etc etc.
Qled is not triple the price.
oled is worst, you will get burn in and you have to watch it in a completely dark room, no lamps on or anything.
i have my massive window behind my sofa and light goes into my room and tv. qled is led but on steriods with no burn in. the colors really pop on the qled, for me its worth paying extra for. if you haven't seen qled or oled, just buy led and save money. but once you see it, you have to have it. it makes the led look really dull.
