YES! Had been contemplating buying something on amazon for the past few hours, very glad this came up!

  • -7

    Is it capped?

  • +9

    Until when?

  • +3

Got to be kidding me…. I waited and waited for this, but pulled the trigger this evening, and I've just been notified that my order has been shipped.

    • Same here, bought a samsonite softside suitcase 3 hours ago. :(

      • Canel the order, then re-order it.

        • +2

Can't, mine has just been shipped

          • -1

@OzBargain F5er: I don't think Amazon ship during the weekend. You can probably still cancel the order from Contact us section.

            • +5

@MagicMushroom: Thanks for trying to help - unfortunately it was an international item from amazon.com.au and I've got the email saying it's shipped with a tracking number.

I'm just gonna have to take this one like a man

          • @OzBargain F5er: They did the exact same thing to me… (Australian order with Amazon AU as seller.. and not even shipped yet :( )

      • Was there a good deal on Samsonite? What did you buy?

      • SB and CR does this so often, just wait for the next cycle. Why buy knowing well enough they might just turn on the promo. Anytime during this financial year end.

  • Makes that popular huawei laptop deal a lot better!

    • +14

Actually it makes it worse. This is capped at $50. The usual rate (4.5% uncapped for electronics?) would have given more cash back.

      • Oh you're right!

      • After capping at $50 does the 4.5% rate apply?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just cancelled my Kindle pre-order, and re-ordered with this. Went from 8% to 12% cashback! Just under the $50 limit.

    • +1

I'm tempted on getting a Kindle myself but I'll hold out until Prime Day next month. Previous event (2018 being the first in Australia) included some of the best deals on a number of Amazon devices.

      • Cool. I had a quick look and coulnd't find any records of decent deals on the Kindle Oasis during last year's Prime day. If Prime Day happens around same time as last year's deal, I should still have time to cancel my pre-order and order it again.

  • +2

ugh just bought something yesteday when it was 8%!

    • Me, too. This has been happening to me a lot lately. This time I cancelled my order and re-ordered immediately. I think cashrewards and shopback should have some feature where if the cash back rate suddenly jumps, you can request the higher rate on items purchased within the previous 12 hours.

      • Mine is already on its way :/

  • A few questions, can I claim cashback on purchases paid partially with gift cards? How about promo credits? And what about both? The reason why I'm asking is that I have a $30 gift card and a $5 promo credit (from previous orders cancelled due to price errors). I noticed at the checkout, I can choose to pay with or without the $30 gift card but with the $5 promo credit, I cannot remove that option. It seems to force me to use the $5 promo credit on my next purchase.

  • Will cashback work when using my available "Promotional balance"?

    • +1

      Yes. It did for me

  • dammit, i ordered on friday.

  • Anyone reckon the Bose QC35s in rose gold is gonna come down in price any time soon?

    • Didn't even know there's a rose gold version !

      • Bose sold at apple store. So they are on the same group.

  • Bummer! Just bought a car seat from Amazon yesterday.

    • +1

You can cancel and reorder if it hasn't been shipped, I did just now

      • I did just that. Cheers mate

  • Can I claim TRS on this?

    • As long as you meet the TRS conditions.

    • I would like to know this too, some ppl say can and some say can't while it's online order.
Anyone has experienced to claim TRS purchased from Amazon AU?

      • +1

If u paid gst n it's over the trs threshold then yes. You need the abn to claim

        • You should be able to as you've technically paid GST, and your products are from AmazonAU not AmazonUS. Tax invoice can be downloaded from your Amazon account

    • +1

Last 12% cashback - I picked up an Oculus Rift S and got $50 off, plus I went through TRS and got another $59 off, so in the end it was Au$540.

My Amazon Invoice (which you can print off from "your orders" on the website) with TRS Stamp.

Missed out on the Switch games with Big W eBay sale yesterday.

This makes Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Kart 8 plus a few others only $1.86 more than last nights $52.70 on eBay.

    • +1

Yup same here. Pulled the trigger and bought 2 Pro Controllers that worked out to $69.52 each ($79 less 12%) with free postage, which is a smashing deal. Added Zelda and Mario Odyssey for good measure. :-)

      • +2

Cashback with Amazon is calculated sans gst. Your controllers wil be $70.39 ea

        • +2

Hahaha. Thanks for the correction. I'm formally from VAT land where that didn't matter. :-)

          • @OrderedChaos: Most places give cashback on entire purchase however Shaver shop and Amazon do it this way. I'm sure there are others too.

  • +2

12% saving would possibly just about make amazon.au competitive. As someone who buys a fair amount of merchandise from amazon.com and .co.uk, often sent to friends and family addresses, I've been disappointed at both the range of pricing at our very own branch of Amazon.

  • Is there cashback on prime membership if I signup .

    • +1

      No.

  • +1

Does this work with Amazon US?

    • -1

      No.

    • For future reference

It works on items bought through amazon.com.au including ones from Amazon US

  • Now I can use my gift cards

    • +1

Paying with gc probably wont give you the cash back

      • +1

        not true, works now.

  • Is this capped per account? Or per transaction?

    • +2

I believe it is per transaction.

Shopback showing Cash rewards how it's done!

    • +1

Yes… Going to actually need to open a Shopback account now… Was hoping Cash rewards would come back with something overnight.

      • +10

It's worth it (and no, not associated with them in any way). I resisted opening a ShopBack account for a while, telling myself that cashrewards was just the same, but when I installed the savable browser extension I could see ShopBack usually had the better rates. I always now pick whichever of the 2 has the best rate, and > 90% of the time it's ShopBack.

  • +2

    Expiry date?

  • -1

Can I get a referral link up in here y'all?

  • With Prime, does it work with items sold by Amazon US? Looking for floor mats but delivery is $100.

    Edit: just found this info.
    your 30-day free trial includes:

FREE Expedited Delivery on eligible items in as fast as two business days
FREE International Delivery on eligible orders over $49 from Amazon US when shopping on Amazon.com.au
Prime Video and Prime Music at no additional cost

    • +1

It's very hit and miss. I've been there. Only a tiny tiny tiny fraction of items are included in the "eligible orders".

      • This. Free Prime International Delivery on selected US items is effectively completely useless. I've never found something on the eligible list that I actually wanted.

  • Does anyone know if this works for Amazon coins?

  • Would this include the $199 echo subwoofer?
Terms say non echo devices and echo devices accessories included but what is this sub?

  • Does anyone know if this works for preorders?

    • +1

Pre-orders are eligible for Cashback provided the item is scheduled to be shipped within 60 days of purchase.

      From the ShopBack website

      • Thanks!

      • Too long for Borderlands 3 :(

    WD Blue 1TB SDD 2.5"

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B073SBQMCX/ref=crt_ewc_…

comes down to $155.80 with prime (after 12%).. free delivery too, it's listed at $219 on MSY, what a steal.

  • I picked up the Lego Friends Lighthouse Rescue. Its 602 pieces at AU$44 after cashback which is a really good price.

I remember they had a Lego Creator Lighthouse (31051) which had 528 pieces and went for $60-70.

But honestly I'm going to bet that Amazon will have some big Black Friday sales on Lego (like last year) that will dwarf the 12% we can get here. They had some real good ones last year.

  • Just signed up for this, stepped through as directed, but item does not show any reduction in price, is this correct and they just credit you the 12% for later, how do I know before I hit the confirm button, thanks.

    • +1

The cash back is eventually paid into your ShopBack account. You do not receive a price reduction from Amazon.

  • How long does it take after making a purchase on amazon for an email to be received confirming the tracking of the order?

    • +3

My experience, usually betweeen 2-5 days

  • Shopback had wine at 15 % at bws on Saturday when I put order through but it tracked at 4% which it is now. I sent some thing to their support but haven't heard back. Will take a screenshot next time.
How would people rate it vs cashrewards? I had one thing go wrong there and took 2 goes but got it sorted.

I can see cellarmasters is at 18% bit don't want to put an order through in case of issues.

    • -1

To be honest, I’ve never had to deal with their support as everything I’ve put through has tracked with no issues. CR on the other hand has missed tracking on a few occasions and have refused to help when I’ve contacted them.

  • omg what can I buy, perfect time stack up with the $30 voucher too…

  • +1

    Does CashRewards even try anymore?

ShopBack is knocking it outta the park with their deals and just normal daily prices and I haven't seen a single special from CashRewards since I signed up back when it was first advertised on OzB.

    • +6

CR employee Australians while SB offshore a lot of their support etc. because they're an overseas company so they're able to afford these losses a lot more.

and I haven't seen a single special from CashRewards since I signed up back when it was first advertised on OzB.

I can see hundreds of CR deals

      • Are you saying that you believe buying stuff from Chinese websites through CR is beneficial to the Australian economy?

That's great for you, as I said I haven't seen any. I'll have to check my filters, maybe…

        • The 8 active deals from CR aren't Chinese stores.

          • @Clear: They have hundreds of cashback stores that are…if you want to argue that you only buy from Australian stores, then fine, but to claim using CR is better for Australia is one port too far, there, friend.

            • @The Gent: You said there were no CR deals and I provided proof there are. I also explained why SB are able to do larger increases that result in losses over CR and why they have less overheads - offshoring.

And to say that I buy only from Australian stores is ludicrous. I rep for many Chinese companies 😉

  • First SB use, lets see how smoothly this goes

  • damn, took this advantage of 12% over my last 8% saved extra $2 on my pre order game. but the delivery time been push back 2 weeks. this is the first time i feel fail of my ozbargain life.

  • Did anybody's purchase track yet?

    • Nope, keep me updated and I will also let you know

    • Yes, mine did after 1.5 days roughly. First time using SB and Prime.
Emptied my cart, clicked through via SB website, searched for my items again and then checked out.

      • Yup got mine too today

  • Everyone please be aware that there have been issues with tracking for Amazon with Shopback for me. Especially so if you add item to cart before clicking through Shopback. Click through Shopback first.
