        • Its a massive hit or miss. I've had both.
Managed get jump down to $49 a month with my third rep.
          Good luck all!

        • Won't work anymore. :(

          • @2023: May not work, but I just live chatted to have the port in credit added, and enquire about getting POM data added to the plan. First they gave me a $10 port in credit (making it $55p/m), but he said he couldn't authorise the POM, so cancelled the JBHIFI contract (3 days old) and put me onto the $60 telstra medium plan, which is month to month. I know it's not as cheap as the other options here, but I have no contract and the $500 gift card… Looks like I'm waiting for the next cheap SIM only. Reps name was Aldrin.

            • @kierann: Thry let you just cancel the jbhifi plan, no cost?
The online chat I had said that the plans were in different families now and so there is cancellation fees to switch.

    • If you have other services with Telstra you can ask for companion plan $49 gives 30 gb and POM data.

Thanks, got this plan from hornsby westfield jbhifi.

  • Dang.. only 1/3 through the 30 day requirement. Hopefully they have another deal later in July cos this Kogan (Vodafail) network I've ported out to is crap.

    • Have you tried and been knocked back or you are just waiting out?

      • To be honest I'd not tried as the offer they had yesterday (when I visited a store) was the $45p.m with 50Gb + $200 gift card which I was not interested. Too bad this is a 'today only deal' otherwise I'll try this weekend.

  • Today only!? :(

    • Just confirmed with Queen St Brisbane that it’s today only. One day is pretty crp when you can’t get in and they won’t/ can’t do anything over the phone isn’t it.

  • The deal says its tomorrow, but people are getting it today?

    • That date is the expiry date

so what your telling me is that Paying for a Telstra "service" is like buying a game from steam with "steambucks"

hear me out: - if JB can afford to give you a $500 gift card, then that must mean the 65$ a month is mostly profit with very little cost for the actual product: meaning a way over-inflated product value.

Reduce the cost of you services Telstra!

    • Some will never be happy…

    • or maybe they get a higher trailing commission for this promotion

  • If it included international like prepaid I'd be in, fingers X'd they include it in future deals

A deal is not a deal when you are locked into a contract for 12 or 24 months. If your that keen for Telstra network ( when it not failing Aussies ), better off with Boost, $50 Mth = 55GB if you stay with them for 5 months then 40GB after that WITH ROLL-OVER Data, PLUS all calls/text including many Int. calls and text PLUS FREE Stream Apple Music Data. AND, if you don't like them or find a better deal their is NO CONTRACT.

    • +3

But there's no $500 gift card.

    • So… No contract but you have to stay with them for 5 months for the roll over data deal? Good job mate.
Most people here, just like the other phone deals from JBHifi are people moving to the $49 plan straight after. So either way no deals compare to these.

      • What is the 49 deal? I keep seeing it mentioned

        • +1

It's actually the $69 plan which is currently discounted to $49. You can get moved to that after you sign up from the JB deal. Because it's technically an upgrade Telstra allow it.

I was successful today. Ported-in from Optus postpaid for this deal $65/month and the $500 gift card. 5 minutes later when the new Sim is ready, had an online Chat with Telstra rep, I asked to “Upgrade” from Jb-HF $65 to Telstra $59 ($10 discount) and politely begged her to give me extra $10 making it $49/month. But she said now the system recognised my number as an active Telstra user, so there is no chance the system would allow her to give me extra $10. But in the end I am happy with $59 plan, which is cheaper and includes unlimited international calls/SMS to 15 eligible countries, and Peace of mind Data, where as the JBHF plan didn’t have international calls and will charge extra $10/1G data over.

    • Telstra wouldn't give me the $10 discount. They said as the contract is through JB they can't alter the plan. But they said they are happy for JB to give me the discount. I just couldn't be bothered arguing any longer.

      • I ported in from Optus today, after successful port-in, went on Telstra Chat and successfully got additional $20 off plus 5GB additional Data too 😋 so effectively will enjoy 65GB data for $3.33 per month for next 12 months 😬 ($45x12-$500=$40/12=$3.33)

    • I've done the same, only got down to $59 plan with international calls.

Did you get the plastic JB gift card or digital one? I got plastic one, just a card marked $500, forgot to ask a receipt, did JB Hifi give you a receipt regarding gift card? got worries what if there is no money loaded in the card, LOL.

  • I switched from Telstra to catch mobile

    No regrets.

Connection and speed feels about the same for north shore Sydney

    I pay around $10 a month

  • Anything is possible if you get a nice telstra rep, on live chat.. im on the $69-60GB plan with unlimited calls/txt and international calls. Im paying $39 per month (yes $30 discount) and extra 10GB data -> 70GB. $39-70GB. Anything is possible guys - just keep trying! I hear telstras plans maybe changing soon - hopefully i can keep this plan for a long time 🤞

  • Got down to $39pm here - 35GB with POM . They then upgraded my other existing byo plan to same deal.

    • How did you manage that?

I got it down to $49 but I barely use more than 30gb a month so looking to go to the cheapest deal.

    • What a letdown. Looks like they have increased their pricing.

      • Yeah same as yesterday except $1 more and no lock in

  • so many jb and telstra deals lately! come on optus! i like data pooling!

  • To get to the $39 companion plan, it's a 2 step process.
    1. You need to go on chat and request to move to any Telstra plan e.g $49 plan. Stay on this for a day.
    2. On the next day then go back on chat and request to change to $39 plan.

This is how I done mine and the Mrs. They see ur previous plan when making changes but not the plan u started with. They are reluctant to move people on jb telstra plans to the $39, but will happily move telstra plan customers.

    • Get the port in credit first. That will bring the plan down to $29 per month ;)

      • I tried but they weren't budging. I'll keep trying. I'm still happy with $39 pm + the $500 gift voucher.

  • for those who able to upgrade to $49 plan, do you still get the first month bill for $65? And adjusted on the second bill?
