That display looks like a $10 watch from my childhood.

    • I think mine cost $40

    • +2

Bet that side button activates a barely noticeable blue light.

      • Thought it is yellow/orange.

        • I think that's only the black ones. Silver is usually blue.

  • +1

It actually comes in gold and black too. Black one looks best imo. But the gold is just absurd.

    • +2

I have the black with inverted display (i.e. all black). The IP coating has proven really tough and the watch is really pleasing.

I reckon it's the one to go for as while the gold and silver have more initial bling, they're hard to wear every day. There are lots of nice functional improvements over a standard plastic square, most significantly the great button size.

    WTF

Even the store name sounds dodgy

Waiting for the comment "thanks OP bought 10"

    • +4

Was like wtf, they're in every major shopping centre! Then realised they're only in WA/QLD/SA

      • +2

Haha as someone who's lived in all of those states but no others, I was thoroughly confused. Surely everyone knows Shiels lol.

They're typical retail mass produced jeweler kind of dodgy, but not actually suspect if you know what I mean.

        • +2

"store is dodgy" - tiny bit of Googleing would show it is an established jewellery chain store with a bunch of locations across 3 states.

    • Quantity Available: 5

      Tried but failed

      • They have bricks and mortar stores across 3 states - unless it's an online only deal surely it meets stock requirements? I'll admit I'm not 100% sure on the rules though.

    • +3

Not even the same product did you even look?

      • It's the exact watch in black.

No it's not. Stainless steel band vs resin band on the catch model. Most watches are cheaper without a stainless band. Considering the whole point of this model is that it is stainless (the same watch functionally can be had for a couple hundred less) that's a pretty big difference.

          • -7

@Wilburre: Right, so a stainless band is worth $100 to you, got it, no worries.

            • +3

@Soapdroid: It's not about whether it's worth it for me or not. For the record neither are worth it for me, otherwise I would have bought one.

What is important when comparing prices on a deal site is an apples to apples comparison. I may as well post on an iPhone deal that a motorola is cheaper.

If op or anyone else wants to spend their hard earned on this it's their perogative. For the record this watch has a lot of hype amongst the watch community and is going for $450usd + in the USA.

              • -1

@Wilburre: While you are correct that it would have been helpful for me to mention the band difference, this is a far cry from comparing Motorola to iPhone. Bottom line is that this is the same watch with a different band for $100 less

              • +1

@Wilburre: It's more like posting the same iPhone with either a silicone vs drop proof case. Some people will buy the expensive one convenience but more won't mind changing something replaceable for a reasonable saving

                • +2

@Pigsy3: Fair, I just couldn't think of a good example at the time. One thing to consider though is the entire point of the watch is it is the first all-metal square gshock. also the attachment method for the bracelet or strap is proprietary, not normal lugs so it's not replaceable unless you can source another gshock bracelet/strap which aren't sold separately.

Your eyes are painted on. They look terrible.

Insult to injury: I now have Shiels targeted ads invading my browser

I've got the G-SHOCK 5600AB. The bluetooth functionality is worthless and it just drains battery. Save your money and buy yourself a non-bluetooth G-SHOCK, they'll last longer.

    • Thanks for this. What exactly does it do?

      • I’m guessing nothing an Apple Watch can do.

      • +1

Alerts you when you have a message and helps you locate the phone in a room.

    • Might be ok, given this is solar powered.

  • +3

    'Brought one'

    Where did you bring it?

    • +9

      He didn't bringed it.

      He bruyed it.

  • +1

I am SHOCKED anyone would actually paid $750 for this G-Shock. Maybe it has a 2TB ssd inside ?

    • "The want factor and how much you enjoy your purchase out weighs simple comparisons to other watches that are similar in function but a lower price." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI1O01HQlMg
I'm not in that class and don't have a watch, have a phone that displays the time.

    • even with a 2tb ssd inside, what are you going to do with it in a watch.

      • +2

        Plenty of ph numbers.

  • Okay. I no longer feel bad about being an Apple sheeple, buying anything they sell, for the exorbitant prices they sell them for.

    • +7

      No, you still should

    • +2

I still feel bad for you

    • don't let the android droids hear you.

with their open source, that nobody really does anything with, but hey, it's open source so it must be good

      • +2

Haha so true. We love saying it's open source, yet anything not 'vanilla' Android is scum of the Earth.

Its like using Linux, without the learning curve or desperate sense of superiority

      • That moment you realise Android buyers buy phones to actually be ahead of the curve, not 3 generations behind in spec ;)

  • Whilst I love g-shocks, I don’t seem to understand why this is priced at $1k?

  • +4

    And here I am wearing a $10 F91W like a peasant.

    • My watch plays the Looney toons song when I press the side button, and the class face is actually bugs Bunny with his arms being there clock… My brain just died, what are the time thingies called again? I want to say hands but that doesn't make sense to me right now 🤔

      • Hour hand, minute hand and second hand.

        • Kept coming to hand, but was referring to arms on a clockface and suddenly hands seems like the stupidest thing ever.

          Thanks

    • Even seasoned collectors respect the F91

  • It's made in Japan obviously.

  • +1

    $749.25 !! G-shock

  • 750$? really?
it must be some kind of an Apple watch, he he

  • +1

It's a watch lover's digital watch,I love it just as love my Seikos.

  • For that price I'd be looking at something from the MT-G range!

    • They're too OTT for me

      • Yeah they're pretty full on, but I've gotten used to it and love it now, my tiny wrists notwithstanding.
