Epson WorkForce WF-3725 $198 (+ $80 Cashback via Redemption) @ Harvey Norman

130

My old Canon MF printer had died with a clogged head that no amount of cleaning would fix. Probably killed it with cheap ink off eBay. Lasted 4 years so was time for a new one. Had a hunt, and found HN was selling the Epson for $118 after cashback - not a bad deal for a decent multifunction printer.

250 sheet capacity
4800 x 1200 DPI printing
35 auto document loader
duplex/double sided printing
ethernet port as well as wifi
1200 x 2400 dpi scanner
fax, etc etc

Note: I suspect it has 'starter' ink cartridges, so will probably go through them quickly. Uses Epson 702 cartridges - separate black/magenta/cyan/yellow so none of that multi colour cartridge rubbish where you have to replace everything when one colour runs out. Can get 702XL pack of 4 'compatible' good quality cartridges for around the $70 mark (about the same price as a set of genuine Epson 702 cartridges that hold less than half of the 702XL)

$219 from Epson (https://www.epson.com.au/products/multifunctional/WorkForceP…)
$149 at JB (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/Printers/epson/e…)
$138 from Centrecom (https://www.centrecom.com.au/epson-workforce-pro-wf-3725-mul…)
$118 from Harvey Norman after $80 cashback (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/epson-workforce-wf-3725-mult… and https://www.clubepson.com.au/competitions/data/2019_800525/p…)

Me, being the good ozbargainer, contacted HN via online chat and asked if they would price match Centrecom. Not a problem. So got it from HN for $138. Assuming I get the cashback, then the printer will cost me $58. Just in time for me to claim it on tax as well.

Potentially could combine it with Amex spend $350, get $50 back if you have that - I do, but couldn't think of anything else I wanted/needed from HN so let that one pass.

FYI - Register the printer and get an extra 3 months warranty plus $25 credit to spend on the Epson website.

  • Nice deal with the pricematch, I was unsuccessful in getting it matched through chat 'due to cashback the offer isn't the same'

Tried the chat again with a 'different' agent, they could see my previous chat and declined.. Worth a shot 😁

    Epson WorkForce WF-3725 for $118

Then pay around $500-$2500 per litre for ink…

    • Anything preventing these ones from using cheapo ink from ebay (or similar)?

      • +1

Probably killed it with cheap ink off eBay.

        • OP also stated it lasted them 4 years before it died - and from the "probably" I'd assume the ebay ink wasn't a one off.

      • The older Epsons have cheap 3rd party ink available. Ink for the latest range is much more expensive.

  • just about 10-15 aud for a set of ink in China.
And has software to unlock the printer

i just bought the epsom et-2650 for $298 (reduced from $428)from harvey Norman.
yes its more but prints 4000 black and 6500 colour on the cartridges included. much cheaper to refill too and under $300 which is helpful if claiming on tax.

I have the 2750. Had it for almost 2 years now and have only needed to buy a bottle of yellow ink for around $15. Have printed thousands of pages.

  • I have previously done this offer and called the store directly to price match no problems

  • I’ve got a 3530 which may be due for replacement and this seems like a good deal! Thanks.

  • jesus people buy a laser. What wrong with you all?

    • Heh. I have a laser, and it's great for most printing and cheaper per page. The inkjet tends to print better colour photos when we need to do that. Multifunction (scanner, printer, etc) lasers also tend to be huge and cost way too much.

    • I am up for a multifunction printer replacement. What are the benefits of a laser over one of these colour ink printers around the $300 mark?

      • Cheaper on ink, faster. Just the normal things.

If it's not for regular use (which is what I think caused my nozzles/print heads on my WF-3530 to spoil), would laser still be a good choice?

  • Lasers may not be healthy, the toner particles are so tiny they escape into the air and into your lungs and nothing good can happen from that. Do your own research, but no laser printers for me even though I would otherwise like one.

  • Just saw this printer for $149 at my local good guys but no cash back so must be a HN promo.

  • i registered my new epson online and got $30 discount voucher for epson online store as well as extended warranty. use the $30 to buy spare ink.
