My favourite pillow, on sale at a pretty good price at Harvey Norman for one day only (Super Saturday, but price is already live).

Free C&C in store. It seems if it’s out of stock in your preferred store, it could still be ordered in.

Sure it is a damn fine pillow, English. But if you're a hot-headed Amish like myself, the extra $15 you'll otherwise spend on shipping, could pay the upgrade premium for the Cooling Gel Top Therapillo on special from Dunlopillo, making it the best money you'll ever spend.

I bought one of each during the recent Ebay sales, and whilst the latex Dunlopillo is indeed as comfortable as snoozing on a sleeping bag full of baby kittens, it was hotter than a bowl of over cooked porridge. I sleep so much sounder on the Memory Foam Therapillo as I dream about carts, barns and prudish women in aprons, thanks largely to the cooler surface…

Plus Gerry is a reneging d1ck who should be avoided by every professional…

What's the link between HN and that deal?

Thank you for the entertaining recommendation. Would you mind sharing the sale details if they haven't expired already please?

Are you able to discredit the bad reviews on here saying that the cooling gel doesn't work in practice?

      • +1

Wouldn't say I'm a "hot sleeper" or anything but it is noticeably cooler when I go to sleep and I never wake due to having a hot head/face. The memory foam is pretty dense so I don't think it would breathe all that well if the pillow did get hot. I haven't had a memory foam pillow before this one so can't compare with/without the cooling pad but it is easily the best pillow I've owned.

        • Yeah that makes sense. Cheers. Perhaps I could use another pillow in times where I don't sleep fast enough and it does get hot.

Who am I to discredit personal opinion? Like bumholes, we've all got a right to one.

        /Amish pacifist hat comes off/

But they're wrong, as other posters in other threads here and other forums have noted when actually comparing the two pillows. If you place the two side by side, the memory foam with cooling gel will be cooler for longer every day of the week. I suspect most reviewers haven't tested the alternatives side by side, or have unrealistic expectations about exactly how much a cooling gel top will impact their temperature. It's a pillow, not a refrigerator…

        • Ok, thanks!

    • I’ll take a Simpsons reference, any place, anytime, I can get it. :)

$74.00 at Kogan with free shipping… save $3.05 if you're needing it shipped and would rather give your money to Ruslan instead of Gerry.
$76.45 on Amazon (free shipping with Prime), save $0.60 if you'd rather give to Bezos than Ruslan or Gerry.

Are you really telling us to choose between Kogan and Hardly Normal; the two companies competing to have the longest list of ACCC fines?

      • ACCC fines

part if their business model. Bargainers have short memories and easily distracted - fines costed.

      • Nope. I gave two alternatives to Harvey Norman at a lower price; nothing more, nothing less.

        • I actually went to Harvey Norman and they had no stock - storeperson said they stopped ordering in Dunlopillos because they're always cheaper at Harris Scarfe.

  • Just confirming if this is Medium Profile, Medium Feel?

    • +1

Yes. "Classic" feel which is medium in their medium profile. For some reason they don't like saying Medium Profile, Medium Feel.

  • I am seriously curious to know whats so special about this pillow that anyone would want to spend that much money on it. For me, a pillow costing 15-20 is something normal. Spending more than 50 or 60 even on the most luxurious pillow is beyond imaginable. I have been using kmart 10-15$, pillow since 3 yrs now and never had a problem.

They are more springy, It's one of those things words just don't hit the mark trying to describe. Without doubt i do not regret at all been using for years now. I have a mix of pillows so don't always nod off/wake up using it but more often than not i do. I would highly recommend you go into a store that has them and make sure you select the profile type you prefer first.

        Well said.

Personal preference and sleeping position will play a big role in what works for different people, but $60 for something I'll spend up to a third of my life on was not a big impost…

What would it take for your curiosity to be satisfied? I think there's a limit to how much of the subjective experience of pillow comfort can be conveyed using language. How many times have you heard someone say "it's the best pillow in history" (or words to that effect). If you remain unseated after all the positive recommendations, then the only way you will be able to understand is if you buy one and try one. Worst case scenario you've wasted the cost of a few Eneloops. Best case scenario, you sleep like a baby.

      • Might be just by trying it out I guess.

How many times have you heard someone say "it's the best pillow in history" (or words to that effect)

        Never tbh.

But I will definitely give them a try. :)

  • In case it helps others considering investing in this, maybe females in particular??.. being one myself..

I bought and used this recently, found it way too firm. So purchased the Dunlopillo Medium Profile Soft Feel.. Much, much better!! For me.

In saying that, it's still not as good as the ALDI one I bought a couple of years ago. Again, for me.. It's all subjective. The perfect pillow is the one that's right for you.

But I am happy I have found one nearly as good that I can repurchase with ease in the future. I assume in 10 years I will easily be able to look online for a Dunlopillo Soft Feel, unlike my ALDI pillow :-/

  • i got one of these, but it never gets used as i prefer the $5 one from harris scarfe. bit of a gamble to buy something like this without trying it in store. everyone likes different pillows

    • I prefer my RS, but some insist on 530i.

David Jones will price match if your local HN doesn't have stock. Just picked one up.

  • Does normal pillowcases fit these pillows?

  • Just picked these up from HN. 1st reaction - They seem pretty thin. I think I should've gone for the high profile. Asked the rep who said that I can't replace these with the high profile ones as they're not on sale.

Oh well, I'll try sleeping on it tonight and see how it feels :)

  • I got the soft feel version. Nothing to write home about really. I've head several different pillows, cheap and expensive. This one is like any other pillow. plus smells like latex
