Ballistix 16GB (1x 16GB) 2666MHz DDR4 SODIMM Laptop RAM $116.60 Delivered @ Newegg

90

By this time, I would assume most OzBargainers would have picked up a laptop of some sort with all the EOFY deals available.

If you are like me (and in search of some laptop RAM), I think this is an awesome deal…

Ballistix Sport LT 16GB 260-Pin SO-DIMM DDR4 2666Mhz (PC4 21300) RAM (Model BLS16G4S26BFSD).

These are made by Micron (who also make Crucial RAM). So if you are after a cheaper version, Shopping Express has 16GB SODIMM 2666Mhz RAM for $99 + postage. https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/crucial-16gb-2666mhz-…

I bought 2 modules (total 32GB) for $212 + GST, however, was charged a total of $235.92

I have also enquired to see if Newegg would provide me a code for a special discount for OzBargainers - not gonna hold my breath, but if something comes of it, I will post the code.

Don't forget the 1% cashback from Cashrewards!

Grab it while it's in stock!!!

  • Any deals on the 8gb or (2x8gb) versions?

  • Damn! I already have two of them!

I wonder when the 32Gb sticks will be at a "I don't have to sell the kids to upgrade my computer" level…

  • I got the 8gb version from Newegg earlier this year, but it doesn't work at 2666 in my machine. runs at 2400. the other stick from different manufacturer runs 2666 alright.

  • Good price, just bought two of this last month for $269.

  • Super noob question.

I have the Inspiron 15 7000 series with 8gb ram from one of the dell sales on here; the laptop has two slots for ram. Is increasing the ram simply a matter of checking if this particular one is compatible and then putting it in the other slot, resulting in 24gb ram?

    • +1

      Yes.

This stick should be compatible, but I would quickly run HWinfo and check whether your RAM is running at 1333 or 1200.
If it is running at 1200 then you might be able to get a stick of DDR4 2400 for cheaper.

FWIW this stick does not run at 1333 speeds in Dell Precision for some reason.

      • Thanks mate, that's the maximum memory clock? I'm running at 1200.

What should I be looking for in the description to ensure I get the correct speed?

        • In hwinfo you want to look at the Current Clock for Memory. If you're running at 2400 it will be floating around 1196-1200.

Search for DDR4 2400 SODIMMs and you might find one slightly cheaper. Amazon also have some decent prices from time to time.
