    Ozbargain's favourite mattress

    Subjective.

    • +3

Yes. I like mine, the wife complains it's too soft though.

      • +4

same here, I mostly loved work trips and holidays because it meant sleeping on anything but this mattress.

      • +11

        The mattress or..?

        • +8

          mistress…

  • +9

yeah I got one of these once and it was murder for my back…
(soft but really has weak support)

a year and a pregnant wife later I just replaced it with an orthokinetic one (on wife's demands)
I prefer firm mattresses so was hopeful I could replace this POS with a firmer one but of course wifey won so got a 'plush' one to replace this one (but with way better support)

    • Agree, this is not worth the money.

      • +5

What better matteress would you suggest for the same money?

        • +3

To be fair, you should consider spending more for better when it comes down to a bed. The Sleeping Duck mattress is fantastic however if foam is your thing, I recommend the OneBed. If you do like foam/pocket spring hybrid and the Sleeping Duck is too expensive, the Eva Mattress is a great compromise.

We have all 3 at home (large family) and recommend them all

            @Cyphar:

To be fair, you should consider spending more for better when it comes down to a bed.

I think the same way when it comes to many things, but I also think as everyone is built differently, some people have absolutely no problem sleeping on just about any surface while others get a lot more comfort out of an expensive mattress, with a whole bunch of people somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately the only way to tell if a cheap-but-good mattress is suitable is to try them.

At least these mattresses are cheap enough to try - if the buyer finds it comfortable, great! They probably just saved $800. If not, it can go to the guest room or a friend or relative, and the hunt for a more expensive mattress can begin.

      • +1

I would pay more for the winners at BedBuyer review site, try not to compromise on your personal health.

      • +2

no idea why you got downvoted, it is literally worse than sleeping on carpet in my experience.

        • +2

Neither do I, no sweat though. Yeah I'll be replacing it as soon as I can

    • +5

They have an extra-firm model for those who find the standard one too soft.

    • +8

"chiropractors endorsed" as it brings them so many new customers I say.

I got one for my girlfriend, It gives me massive pain in my lower back, which I have never experienced in my life, if you are a side or front sleeper who is used to anything remotely firm, avoid this mattress at all cost.

It is however high quality and very nice if you are a back sleeper.

I think I'll order the extra firm and gumtree this one.

      • Destroyed my back as a side sleeper. I couldn't make it 3 weeks before I had to order a memory foam topper. Just waiting for the tax return to go out and buy a replacement, 3 months after this waste of money. If someone in Sydney's looking to pick one up for cheap I've got one to sell, hardly been used…

    • +3

Really? I got a King size one for myself last month and I found it's a lot firmer than most comments here.
I used to have back pains in the past from sleeping on some mattresses. But this one has been the most comfortable one I ever owned so far. Felt great to sleep and wake up on.. My siblings came over and I asked them to try laying on it. They loved it and commented on how comfy it feels. Now I'm ordering two more

      • I have had mine for 18 months and my husband and I love it. I am a side and he is a back sleeper.

  • +5

Anyone know how this stacks up against Aldi's queen mattress?
    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-wed-10-…

    • Same question here! Really interested

    • +29

how this stacks up against Aldi's queen mattress?

      Vertically

    • +1

Aldi one is better, have one in our guest room - has always been better than this one

    • +2

24 cm height thickness vs 34 cm, higher usually better because more materials

  • +2

I have the Extra Firm one and its been good for my back. I would suggest a good woolen underlay as gets a bit cold. Also read you need to have slat gaps of no more than 6cm otherwise say goodbye to warranty.

    • How to choose firm?

  • +2

I love this mattress. Firmer than I expected from people's postings. Have got compliments on it.

    • +14

Hmm, how many people have been in your bed? 🤔

      • +2

Hmm, how many people have been in your bed?

        Zero

      • +5

        People? 🤔

    • +2

      Compliments on what, exactly?

      • +3

Firmness and thickness mostly, though some appreciate the covers I choose

        • Does the firmness and thickness feel better without the covers?

          • @eug: Well yeah, but without the covers any mess you make can really ruin everything.

  • +2

Fck it, ordered one for the guest room. $10 more than Aldi but looks better and delivered to my door.

  • +1

Been waiting for the 20% deal. I got the firmer one cos my back does not like soft mattress. 191.20 for a firm double is a good bargain.

  • +1

Postage is $69 to Perth so Aldi is the better buy….

  • price went up since last time i bought it. For that price it's really worth the money.

  • +1

Aw man, I literally just bought this yesterday :(

    • +7

      Hand in your ozb licence.

    • +3

I did the same last year and messaged them about it, they let me order again with the discount and then cancel the first order. It had already shipped so they transferred the tracking details. Great customer service.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. The difference is only about $20 though so I don't mind so much. Not sure if it's worth the hassle?

  • +1

We've been happy with ours. We opted for the extra firm against my wife's suggestion but after readjusting to it, it's been great. No sore backs in the morning.

For those that are transitioning, just remember you'll almost always likely come out a bit sore/stiff after sleeping in a different bed. It's your body readjusting to something new.

We came off a fairly firm latex mattress to the extra firm ZZZ and even for me it seemed a bit firm at the start (reports of this deal here being a bit on the soft side). After 2 weeks or so, all was good.

Definitely not as warm as our old latex as it retained a bit more heat, but then again, that became a negative come summer time so pros and cons really. Can recommend for the money, if it doesn't suit, chances are you'll end up paying 10x-20x more for the same gamble.

    • No shaggers back?

      • Who needs a bed for that?

  • i've had a queen one for about 6 months. so far so good. i would say its medium-firm. feels solid and supportive. im about 80kg and mrs is 50kg. only thing i would like to be better is having the edges stronger

    • I found this mattress has stronger edge support on the two sides (left and right) while the top and bottom sides are weaker

      • I agree. If I'm lying in the middle, and work my way to the left or right, it's good edge support. But if you lie straight on to the side, it feels weaker. That's just My thoughts

  • We bought a King Super Firm a couple of months ago. We found it a bit too firm, but nothing a mattress topper couldn't fix. Edge support is OK, much better than I expected based off other reviews.

  • I've been using one for a couple of months now as a replacement to my koala mattress (which developed a 2cm dent making it very uncomfortable) so far it's very good, and for the price 10/10. It's a bit hard for my liking, but with a memory foam mattress topper it's ideal, sleeping much better than on my dented koala mattress.

    • I imagine koala would have replaced it

      • No, they require the dent to be at least 2.5cm

        • How do you measure this that accurately?

          • +1

@sniper: Put something flat and thin over the dent that also touches the undented area e.g a coat hanger. Then use a ruler to measure the depth of the dent against the coat hanger or other flat and thin object.

            • @acersaurus: Thanks for this! Was the issue you saw only in a small area, diameter shorter than the length of a coat hanger? Multiple spots?

              • +1

@sniper: It is about the length of a coathanger. In two spots the same issue as I spun the mattress around after it developed the first time.

  • Just FYI mine dipped in about six months ( queen , black label) . Big obvious dip in the middle. Would recommend you seek out other long term reviews before buying .

    • I have looked at the long term reviews on product reviews before buying. Seems to be that it doesn't develop a dent in most cases, however a sizeable minority complained of a dent. Seems to be a risk with mattress in a box in general.

  • Got to add the $14.90 postage cost to it, which areas are free as I don't see it?

  • Currently building a new house and want to put new mattresses in it, could we order a few of these and leave them in storage for 9 months, without an issue decompressing at a later date?

    • +4

Could always wait and purchase later. These sales appear regularly.

      • +1

Yeah, why bother storing something this bulky, the most it'd go up in price closer to your time is probably about $10 per mattress anyway.

  • Had my queen for about 6-12 months and the wife and I have found it very good for the price. Replaced a ten year old very expensive mattress and has been much better.

  • +2

I highly recommend these mattresses. I have a king for our main bed and a queen for the guest room. Get regular compliments from guests who sleep on the guest mattress.

  • -4

As a first experience, I stayed away from buying cheap mattresses.
I bought a $1500 mattress from Snooze :) Like it

    • -1

      Paid comment?

  • Shit.. bought one last night

  • I have this and I'm not happy.

    • Maybe you should seek happiness

    • +2

As an alternative view, I don't have this and I am also not happy.

    • You have to learn to lower your expectations, then you might find happiness.

  • +1

Pretty happy with overall quality, however edge support is not that good.

    • +1

edge support doesnt seem like a big deal until you want to sit up in bed to read a book . takes 6 pillows on this mattress to get near comfy sitting-up

    • +1

I disagree, I weigh around 100kg at a little over 6ft and the edges are fine for me, are you heavier than 100kg? I also own a $2K mattress and it's edge support was great initially, but after 5 years was shot and was not covered under warranty.

      • I find the edges are fine for sitting in the bed to read. The only problem is for sitting on the edge to say put on socks.

  • +2

Great, Been waiting for this sale to pop up again for a few weeks. After buying the king bed from on discount from Aldi. New King size setup for under $400.

  • Way comforier than my last mattress. Was sceptical to buy but no regrests now.

  • Get the extra firm one if you want good back support

  • Any comments on the bed frames that zzz atelier sell? Are they as good as their mattresses?

  • I will rate these 6/10. Been using one of these for last 6 months.

    • +1

So if you use it for 10 months will it get a 10 out of 10?

  • +1

Bought one last month and really good value for the price you pay. Expect to pay 2-3x the price for this type of quality mattress in a bricks & mortar store.

Try and find an equivalent mattress with height thickness of 34 cm at that price in store.

  • Good mattress and much better than sleeping duck

  • Anyone know how delivery works? Where does it go if im not home?

    • They just leave it at the door.

    • +1

their delivery is horrible, no one will answer their phone if you have any issues. Much easier to make sure someone's at home. They also can deliver a day earlier than their own stated delivery date.

      • Yeah not impressed with the delivery guy, Came home and found it outside the front door, asked my wife why they she didnt get them to bring it inside and the apparently kicked up a fuss about even leaving it at the front door and expected her to help get it even that far. She is 8 months pregnant.

    • sent an email with authority to leave to the ebay account. i also received a call from the courier before delivery. Delivery took longer than expected. just under 2 weeks.

  • Mine came today by Couriers Please. Just left it at the door in the early morning.

  • These other ones I found seem to have 20 years warranty and some cool gel memory foam, anyone tried them before?
