MacBook Pro 13.3” 128GB $1709 @ The Good Guys ($1623.55 with OW Price Beat)

150

If you’re in the market for an Apple laptop, chances are that you’re aware of the excruciating pricing mechanism where prices rarely dip below 10 percent off. Officeworks are currently selling the 13.3” MacBook Pro for $1747 but with their 5% price beat guarantee, I was able to match The Good Guys @ $1709, bringing the total price to $1623.55. The manager at the OW store said this was pretty much as close to margin as the average bloke will get with these products.

$1664 on JB Hifi. Probably can get a an OW price beat off it too.

  • hmm get the macbook air or the pro ….same storage and ram …..

    • Is there any difference?

      • +2

Pro has a better screen. Air has a better keyboard.

        • +1

Apple has a new keyboard mechanism soon to replace all them butterfly keys they tried to sell.

  • Isn't this the 2017 model?

    • yes and Apple only updated other higher specs recently, rumour that there is a 16" coming end of this year

    • Puts the Macbook air to shame, Intel hasn't done anything "new" in years now.

  • +1

FYI the keyboard on mine and the last two that have been replaced is just the worst. If u rely on your computer for typing reports, etc avoid until they upgrade from the butterfly keyboard

    • +1

They slightly revised the latest one, but they still added it to the list of MacBooks eligible for a free keyboard replacement. What a waste! Surely get the basics right?

      • I’ve got the latest one. Still useless. I need to write a lot of reports for work and it is painful. I end up using the archaic PC at work

        • The rumours are that the next version will be ditching the butterfly keyboard.
We can only hope. I certainly wouldn't buy one of the butterfly models. The typing on them is so uncomfortable.

    DONT BUY THIS MODEL:

TLDR do not buy any products that are introduced in 2016 and 2017. 2018 and more recent models addressed these issues tho not perfectly, if you can avoid buying a Mac now, do not buy a Mac.

  • Not worth it as its the 2017 model.. better off getting the latest air or pro.

    • +1

This is faster and has a better screen for the same cost.

    • Wow, you are really not across these products…
The air is so much slower, graphics must be close to a half or third at times…

  • Would the macbook air 2018 for $1664 at the good guys and officeworks 5% price beat @ $1580.8 be a better deal in consideration to overall specs and the keyboard issue?

  • 'New' (back to membrane) keyboards will be in the next Macbook Air, and probably the next MBP. I would wait for those.

AND, AND, 128 gb…..Please….what a joke!!!! What is the use of a 128 GB? Apple is trying/suceeding in ripping us off with overpriced underpowered SSDs. I say boycott Apple until they start reflecting market prices for SSDs.

    • +1

The same can be said to Microsoft Surface Book and Surface Laptop.

    • It’s all about the cloud now.

      • Maybe for some use cases. Definitely not for others.

    • Toshiba just had a serious 15min power outage that destoryed a massive amount of SSD memory and it will be 3 or more months before they get back up and running

  • 128gb is TOO SMALL a storage space for a macbook. Yes you can, NO you shouldnt - 8gb of ram is enough for day to day use like internet and watching video but its not enough for any sort of media creation too but then you will be sorley short of space anyway
