Seems like eBay Plus is a failure so far.

    • -1

Why? I received a tremendous amount of value out of it.

      • -1

We had 69,000 people sign up to come in. What does this place hold? Like 10,000 or 12,000 or whatever. Whatever it holds. We set the record

Can you cite some examples? Excluding the free Google Home Mini and coupons from eBay due to their own clerical errors.

Serious question, as I have not seen any value whatsoever.

Most if not all eBay "deals" seem to be for all members, and you still have to deal with price-jacking. They also seem to be for "eligible sellers" only, not sitewide. The biggest savings are generally from non-eligible sellers, and especially so if you are considering purchasing used goods. The eBay Plus Weekend was underwhelming, especially for those who keep a price-watch for products they want to purchase (again "eligible sellers" only). Free postage is quite subjective as many sellers offer free postage anyway.

It would be great for eBay Plus to succeed. I want eBay Plus to succeed. But I get far more value from doing my due diligence, keeping a price-watch, and from users such as dealbot and tightarse, who post great eBay percentage off deals, which I note, happen to also be accessible by ANY eBay user.

        • Can you cite some examples?

Sure, let me start off by saying that I purchase a lot off eBay, I always have and don't see myself stopping any time soon, as there really isn't any other online retailer that compares in my opinion (don't get me wrong, Amazon is great and I'm starting to order items via their site, although they stock completely different items in my opinion).

In regards to value, I'd say more than 50% of the items I've purchased have been eligible for free shipping thanks to eBay Plus, that alone is a massive amount of savings to me (roughly ~$10 per item).

Most if not all eBay "deals" seem to be for all members, and you still have to deal with price-jacking. They also seem to be for "eligible sellers" only, not sitewide.

This really has nothing to do with eBay Plus and more to do with just eBay in general, but I can understand why people are upset at the recent change (myself especially).

In my specific case, the annual subscription fee paid is peanuts compared to the money I would have spent without the membership, but I'm still undecided on whether I will renew it or not.

The reality is, members are getting more savvy and are wanting to spend less money, so the cost of an eBay Plus subscription and the lack of general sales/percentage discounts offered by eBay, have naturally put a lot of people off.

Cancelled my ebay plus. No perceived benefit to me.

  • Mine cancel as eBay doesn’t have movies , and no speakers to talk too

    • +1

True, eBay need some type of streaming service to complement the membership. Maybe they should team up with Hulu or Stan

Save $49 and don't get eBay Plus, rip off. Sign up for a free trial with anew account whenever you see a deal that you want.

    • U’ll get ur paypal payment method banned

      • Use your credit card instead of paypal

        • Thats a bit stupid, the point of paypal is the protection, dodgy ebay seller, get your money back

          • @asa79: you can also get your money back with ebay, so not much different.

    • Yeah don't do this, eBay aren't stupid and will catch on eventually.

      • Its not hard, make a new ebay account, and paypal if you have to. Im on about my fifth trial, I signed up for all the plus discounts that were on a couple weeks ago

        • I never said it was hard, but you're risking your main eBay/PayPal account by doing so and you should not be encouraging other members to follow.

  • Not available to me. Just cancelled as renewal coming up next week.

  • Cancelled my eBay plus too, not worth it.

Pff i got it for free, they never took it away after they ended my 90 day trial early.

Saved $39 by not signing up to something so useless

Thanks for reminding me to cancel eBay plus.

    Total waste of money..eBay Plus..

  • $39 was the original price before they jacked it up to $49

I still pay shipping with eBay Plus. Maybe that’s where the Plus comes from.

  • Seems to have changed into a anti Ebay Plus thread . Personally wouldn't want to live without my Prime or Ebay Plus both are in a constant battle of which will save me the most where fees are the minor part of the equation . And I mean extremely minor :)

  • Has anyone who cancelled received any offers to re sign?
Think i will pull the plug next week

  • +1

Seriously!! Anyone who sign up for this should just disable their OzB account!

  • Seems that it's $39 if you have signed up for a trial before but want to sign up now.
