hmm Samsung Evo 860 after cash back was $153 not too long ago.

  • if i use an aold sata 3 cable from my hdd will it work with this new one? or buying one of theese has a free cable come with it?

    • Get a usb3 enclosure

    • Not sure about pny but any SSD I have bought Samsung or SanDisk has never come with a cable. As long as SATA cable is Sata III 6 GB/s you should be good to go.

Unless things have changed in the last couple of years, I dont think there is an actual difference in SATA cables. Its the SATA interfaces that determine your speeds. From the reports/tests I read on the internet, SATA I cables work just the same as a SATA III cable - it's a marketers wet-dream.

Youre right about the no cable part.

Youre misled about the Sata III cable. Its just marketing. A sata cable is a sata cable.

Fair enough guys, don't think the marketers flogging off there ludicrously expensive $3 cables will happy then considering Jagpanzer said they already have an old SATA III cable and I told them they should be good to go.

To Jagpanzer, I deeply apologise for the terrible mistake that I have committed as it appears according to the majority even if your cable is not marked SATA III it will still be up to the task. I am not suggesting that should go out and buy a newer SATA cable but feel more than free to go and replace your SATA III cable with an inferior SATA I cable just to prove that they are all created equal.

  • Is the capacity less than a '1TB' Samsung SSD? Or is 960 their way of marketing the closer reality.
