  • Sorry to ask a question that might have been visited before, but what are people thinking with the whole Huawei bans and future android updates? I hear it's an awesome phone but so worried about updates and getting android cut off?

    • +7

The bans have been lifted, so it's all good now

    • +3

Companies like Google etc. will be able to continue support Huawei with Android updates following a statement released by the US Commerce Department.

Basically Huawei is still technically on the so-called entity list, it's not coming off of that blacklist, but US companies will be granted a license to continue business with Huawei where "no national security" is being threatened.

I'd say don't worry woo much about this whole fiasco. In fact even before the partial lifting of the ban Google has already said existing devices like the P30 series will continue to be supported in their life cycle. The Mate 20 series were even put back on Android Q Beta program before lifting of the ban.

So yeah, I'd say it's pretty much a non-issue if you are considering existing Huawei devices like the P30 series.

  • Does this still have the Huawei watch coming with it?

    • Hi Right

This is Dualsim(4G/4G) version does not come with Huawei Watch offer

  • +1

mother's day deal was still the cheapest,

    • How much was it?

      • Free due to $200 card by Huawei (@ JB with Telstra 12 month plan)

      • it was a bonus offer by Huawei,$200 wish gift card.if you combine this with the 10% off Ebay offer,it makes the phone $788.2(rrp was $1098 back then),I bought one and claimed TRS refund ,worked out to be $688.4.

or there was the Telstra 12m plan deal like bajirao mentioned.

thanks OP, just bought 5 Pro

  • P30 or Galaxy S10?

  • Unsure if I want to get the P30 or the OnePlus 7 (8gb RAM, 256gb storage) imported from China for $100 less. Better phone than the Huawei P30 in every way apart from a headphone jack and potentially local warranty.

    • Unless camera performance is important to you. OnePlus smashed it out of the park this time except for the camera… if they can fix that, I am in.

    • according to Huawei website. Bandwidth or frequency for 4G in China is different to AU. actual stock may also be different as well.

some 4G phone from China may not work in 4G AU.

Friend had one Huawei phone (not P20 or P30 series) from China, 4G works fine in China but can only use 3G in AU.

  • There is no black p30?

  • +1

    purchased, thanks.

  • Anyone upgrade from P20 Pro to P30 / Pro can share if heaps improvement?
