Stumbled over this and didnt really see the benefit of it myself as it is only for nokia phones and there arent many good ones out there atm on their deals but if someone was looking to restart their plan and receive a new nokia phone it would be alright i guess.

You can now upgrade to a new Nokia.
To say thanks for being a great customer, we'd like to offer you an early upgrade to any one of our new Nokia mobiles on any of our latest 24 month voice plans1.
Simply choose any Nokia mobile on any current 24 month voice plan and we'll waive the remaining monthly commitment on your current mobile contract so you can start your new plan early.

Available to all customers between months 15-23 of their current Vodafone Contract1.

Offer ends 30 June 2011 unless extended.

Thanks to 3/Voda i now have a new iphone4 nearly for free.
Finally was released from contract, without penalty from 3 because of poor service coverage.
Since i was usually either "searching" or "roaming" onto telstra, decided to go back to the big "T"
so far so good, also got a $300 welcome credit for my trouble.

Not saying OP's Voda offer isnt good if you have good voda coverage, just highlighting options if it isnt.

agreed, I have been with telstra for the last 6ish months.
I was released from my contract, and given a $250 credit which i put towards and iphone 4 as well.

It's been the best decision i ever made, and although telstra is significantly more expensive on paper, i pay less at the end of each month even though my average usage hasn't changed. perhaps i was being overcharged with voda.

    • hey Oz-dxer,

how'd u managed to wrangle a free iphone from 3?
im about 20 months into my 3 contract at the moment, and would love to do what you've done.
plus the $300 credit on top of it sounds fantastic! its got my ozbargainer blood racing!

You need to read between the lines at my sarcasm.
the fact that i got $300 "credit" from Telstra offset my $15 per month iphone cost from Telstra.
basically i pay about $2.50 per month for the new iPhone4

But the best thing is i have no excessive roaming charges at 50c a meg.

Telstra's best value plan for me was for $59 (+$15 for phone) (Total $74 per month) you get:
        iphone4 32gig, $550 calls, unlimited SMS, 1.5g data.

        • lol. dang.
i switched off my data roaming on my iphone. so i dont get chrged when 3 drops out (which is pretty often)

This isn't a bargain, this is just signing up to another new contract…

    belongs in the forums…

  • Yep, not a bargain at all. In fact nokia? Who really wants a nokia nowadays

    • the old folk

    • "whose uses nokias?" wanted to say the same about nokias, didnt want to offend the nokia users out there…

  • I think it belongs on the forums but I still see the benefits of this especially if someone just wanted a basic and phone and was willing to stick to voda.
Essentially you can save 8 months worth of fees by signing up to 24mth contract and get a new phone.

Nokia is good just for the ovi maps, it beats any other free GPS out there and even some paid ones. Especially good if you like going out of the country and you can get other country maps free.

That said I still have a android smartphone but with the kind of usage I do with the phone I am left wanting for more battery by the end of the day, never mind using it for music. The battery life of the old Nokia symbian phones is still king at 4 days.

I use a Nexus S for my main phone, but have been unable to completely stop using my Nokia N8 mainly because of the camera (it's still the best cameraphone in the world across all conditions), the GPS (the free voice-guided navigation has been the most accurate in my experience), ability to read USB flash disks, and excellent video playback (no conversion necessary) on the phone and via HDMI. I'm not denying the Symbian^3 OS is dated, but the N8/E7 definitely still has enough going for it in my opinion. It doesn't do everything, but it does a few things well.

  • I believe this is still a bargain - as I've never bothered visitting forums to find this burried in hundreds of other threads.

    • LOL - there are less threads on the forums than there are here.

    • Its questionable… Only for current customers who are nearing the end of the contract. Voda has extremely bad bad service lately and if you migrate to other providers (with welcome bonus) you are better off than staying even with new phone.
Not negging as someone may see it as a bargain, however in most cases this is just an illusion…

Anyone cosidering the N97 should go to this:

Half price for whole 2 yrs

  • Cant all vodafone customers cancel their contracts any time anyways? why would you choose to be limited to those nokias???

    • Vodafone customers can't just cancel whenever they want without paying the termination fee. You can sometimes talk them into letting you off, but that requires negotiation and there's no guarantee they'll agree. This way lets you skip the hassle.

  • You could at least spell the name of the company offering the deal correctly.

  • vodafone only? not 3? (same company)
