  • I get the error: "We're sorry. Due to publishing rights restrictions, we are not authorized to sell this item in the country where you live." when trying to get it, my account is set to Australia. Lamepants. Mediafire all the way it seems.

just listen on you tube. I did and now im glad I didnt waste my time dloading it.

Whether or not what we experienced was an According to Hoyle miracle is insignificant. What is significant is that I felt the touch of God. God got involved.

  • Quite a good performance by S.L.J I thought…

  • +4

awesome. very awesome. this works a LOT better if you have the book in front of you, which can also be found as a PDF file or on YouTube @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yqVnCAiWHw

Audible is a joke for australian access, just skip it, and amazon audio as well.

  • +1

Found this elswehere. This audio book is very short, only 6:18 mins long.

  • Not worth the hassle

wish there was one for snakes on a plane…

looks like someone is a redditor

  • You guys are crazy

This video is much more worthwhile from Samuel ;)

Yes, that video is, but not the process the poster is talking about, going through amazon and all that crap.
Hence why THIS OFFER is crap, not the actual story.

  • +2

doesn't work. et the same error.

    Is the swearing really necessary?

    • +2

      Yes.

    • +4

      F*ck yes!

    • +4

that's the whole point of this otherwise normal children's book. because it's meant to show frustration towards parents who cant get their hypoactive kids to sleep!

      • +2

*hypERactive. hypoactive is the opposite of what you mean.

    • -5

I'm with you dkslim - it's like comedians who aren't that funny always seem to swear more. It is as if they use that shock value to distract people from the fact they are not funny.

It is also why this is free and the truly good children's literature isn't.

      • +3

It's based on a famous children's book and if you have ever had to read the same f*cking book to your kid for the 1000th time as they muck about before going to sleep, then you (along with it appears a very significant number of parents) will like the book.

As for it not being good because it is free, when you sign up to Audible you can get a free book. Does that mean Dostoevsky is not "truly great literature"? because I got it for free?

      • +3

lightningben + dkslim - do you have children?

this isn't a childrens book. it a parents book.

    • I think you may have missed the joke.

      • -3

Any jokes relying on swearing is a poor one.

not worth the time. this came straight off reddit's frontpage today, i wouldn't call it a freebie any more than i'd call it a waste of bandwidth :P

Used my US Amazon account (created for free Android apps), and managed to download GotheF—ktoSleepUnabridged_mp332_XXX.aa
But nothing will play it! Huge waste of time. Must be some screwed-up DRM thing.
Is there an MP3/AAC/OGG version about?

  • +1

Hmmm. I got the bullsh*t Amazon alert saying I couldn't have it, even though I was in Alalbama, Australia. (FFS!) And then the item turned up in my itunes. I then had to enter my Amazon details and it started playing. So I have it.

In theory, even though I actually now have the book, I soooooooo want to NEG this post for all the crap Amazon puts you through. And I would support anyone who did.

    Scary stuff.

    • Bugger it. NEGged it. Because Amazon doesn't play well with Australia.

  • An .aa file is an Audible audio file. You import the file into iTunes and you'll be prompted for your Audible log in details, once you enter that, you're done. Your iTunes is authorised to play Audible files.

    Simple really.

  • Samuel's reading is available on the net as an MP3 and the book as PPT. Just search for them.

    Got this error:
Based on the billing country of your credit card, we will be required to remove one or more books from your shopping cart, because of publishing rights restrictions. These legal restrictions prevent us from selling the following title(s) in the country where you live:
Go the F—k to Sleepby Adam Mansbach

Went back into library and it looks like I can download it now.
    EDIT:
Looks like it will DRM whatever device I hook up. I can copy to itunes (which I don't have installed), then burn a disc, then rip the disc.

Pretty useless if you ask me.

i love this book, my dad printed it off and i loved it i thought it was hilarious,
    obviously people have different opinions…:P
and the whole point of the book is the swearing!

    • no wonder all the kids talking on the trains/bus/trams these days have potty mouths.

    • No, swearing is not "the whole point", though it does serve a purpose.
The "point" is the frustration of a parent - after threatening, pleading, bribing, …
lillaaay, you are not a parent are you?

The swearing is funny because you get worn down to the point as a parent where you want to swear like a sailor (or bent cop). but you don't. Hopefully. The book gives some catharsis.

Oh, who am I kidding? People who never read a bedtime story will still find the swearing funny. Why? Beats me.
And the audio version is all about profanity. Samuel Jackson made a career out of swearing and drug addiction.
Now if they got Bill Cosby instead, that would have been truly hilarious.

The book is great, it's Amazon that does it with a horse.

    • Ditto

  • I'll give this a shot if the kids I babysit ask me to read one story too many.
