Why is there an influx of 14"-15" laptops using AMD E-350 CPU? I think they were designed for the netbook/ultra-portable at 10"-11.6"? It's like putting an Atom N550 onto a full size notebook — what's the point?

    • Hi Scotty agree 100%, its becuase most customers don't know, this processoer is not meant for a notebook, and certain retailers don't care how they reach a price point.

Exactly or I could just go buy a ex government Pentium 4 laptop for $100 it have the same amount of processing power

  • There's a short review of this laptop here: http://apcmag.com/notebookhunter/compaq-presario-cq43-102.ht…

    • i didn't really understand that review … they said "the gulf in computing power is so dramatic that it’s a better idea to save up for a bit and get a vastly lighter notebook with the same AMD Fusion processor." Why would a lighter notebook with the same processer reduce the 'gulf in computing power'?

  • Maybe if this was a 12.1 inch or 13 inch without an optical disk drive it would be a decent bargain.

Not really a bargain, E-350 CPU is meant for netbooks and so you will get pretty mediocre performance. At 14" and 2.2kg this laptop doesn't really make sense to me…

If you want something light/cheap just get a netbook like the Asus EEE PC deal: cheaper, much lighter, much longer battery life and similar performance.

Else just save a couple more hundred and pick up one of the Lenovo clearance deals with a coupon, much better value.

there is a big difference between 10" and 14". you wouldnt expect a granny to use a netbook to do simple tasks such as sending emails to her grand children. each laptop has their own targeted audience

      • I agree with you on that, but what I meant is for the average shopper that doesn't know about computer specs and goes "oh look a 14" laptop for cheap!" and expects it to perform decently fast since its a "full sized laptop", they will be disappointed and would be better served getting a 12in netbook for cheaper or a laptop with a proper processor for $100 more.

Compaq is the budget line of HP, this may mean something for quality.
