Honestly, I'd recommend just buying the Steam version. Steam Play / Proton is amazing so far.

      • yeah iv heard. i bought the gog goty special last week thinking it would also work just as easy. (profanity) its hard being a linux luser

        • its hard being a linux luser

Tell me about it. It's getting better each year tho. Slowly.

  • Thanks. Bought the game. Never played. But I think I am in for one wild ride (no pun intended)..

  • How necessary to have played Witcher 1 and 2 and/or know those stories?

I remember starting the first Witcher way back when but never finishing it, sooo many games on my 'to play' list not sure I can invest time in the first two now!

Are Cdkeys trustworthy? Like are they perfectly legitimate in their business practices or are they just another company that buys up third-party keys that were acquired via stolen credit cards?

    • Bought off them multiple times and never had an issue.

      • +1

I was mainly referring to whether these keys were acquired legitimately before they were sold.

        • Not all of them.

          • @Lysander: So? What are the consequences of illegitimately acquired CD keys for the customers?

            • @baldur: It's more of an ethical decision. Some people would rather not buy off of key resellers that sell illegally obtained keys (like G2A or Kinguin for example) for pure ethical reasons. Sometimes these keys can even cost the publishers / devs money because sometimes sellers on these sites buy them with stolen bank details and then those who have had their bank details nicked ring up the bank and get the charges reversed. It's an ethics thing.

Edit: Also worth mentioning that sometimes companies deactivate stolen keys, Ubisoft did IIRC.

    • Yeah if it's a site that sells keys it buys from thieves who bought keys from GOG or CDPR using stolen credit cards, then the people who make the game never see the money. It's a slightly easier form of piracy.

All bar 1 of the keys I purchased from them was of a scanned serial number and barcode (mostly COD PC games). I assume they buy up excess boxed copies in Russia or Asia and somebody scans them at 3rd world wages. A sucky job but better than starving to death in a country without a welfare system.

BTW, has the price gone up or did you list in American dollars? (Currently AU$ 22.39)

      • It went up.

  • thanks op. purchased.
