10% off Apple Laptops @ JB Hi-Fi

160

Hi all,

Was notified by a staff at Melbourne Central JB HI-FI that they are having another 10% off apple laptop / pc sale for one day only on 18th July.

Brings the 2019 model even cheaper after apple lowered their prices.

Thanks,
Eggy

Yea agreed, macbook pro for around $1600 is incredible.

      last years model?

    • +1

      That's the 2018 model, 2019 Pro will be $1799.

      • Yep spot on, didn't notice that.

  • Unrelated, but does anyone know if JB would be likely to bring the $500 gift card back with the 12 month Telstra port?

    • +3

I asked and they suggested the $300 is the upper limit now as they don't make enough

I personally would wait until the refresh keyboard.

FYI: Apple Pricematch. The Pro is quite outdated, but decent value.
Comparing Apple Products is often difficult you need to check benchmarks and reviews. The Air with Retina, kills some of the Pro's in performance but then is blown away by the high-end Pro's with the Touchpad.
Also the Air with Retina, runs a slower clock speed than the older model, but blows it away in performance as its a newer generation processor. Runs cooler with longer battery life. It is a very good machine, recently refreshed so worth a look\comparision against a pro.
Bottom line, Pro's are not always better.

    • Dual core i5 doesn't sound overly nice.

Not that I gave ever used a mac though.

As a Windows user I agree it sounds poor, however I do often use a family members Mac Book Air and the performance, feel and usability blows me away every time.
I am in IT I use Windows and Linux, but I only recommend Apple Products to Family. So they can either restore from iCloud or walk into an Apple Store. Just leave me alone.

        • Very good points

        • The dual cores don't have a high clock speed, going from 2018 air to 2019 pro is a huge jump especially for students, scholars, devs etc. With my multi monitor setup at home, the air was struggling with multiple apps and chrome tabs in multiple screens. The pro does not.

If you limit yourself to 2019 models then the Air is now outperformed by any Pro, but the Air will give you slightly better battery. After dropping the Macbook and streamlining the 13" Pro's the current lineups drastically simplified and I believe have all been refreshed this year now too and should be on the same 3.5 version of the keyboard.

Existence of some older Pro's may muddy that a bit, but it'd have to be a pretty old model for even the latest Air to "blow" a Pro away. The previous 2017 base model Pro (Escape model) was largely competitive with the 2018 Air.

I was in JB Launceston today and the staff member said it’s 15% off Laptops tomorrow..

Should also mention the new 2019 models have been announced, and the 2019 Air should be $150 AUD cheaper.
Allegedly gone back to the old keyboard design and include a touchbar (the later I am not a fan of).

      • +1

Nope. Virtually the same keyboard across all models, and the 2019 air does not have the Touch Bar.

Thanks for clarifying, although many sites are claiming the 2019 models have reverted back to a scissor style, and dropped the butterfly keys.
          Perhaps they were speculating.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: It's still butterfly keyboard but improved->better. I purchased one over the weekend.

My old MBA 2014 has better feel to the keyboard…

            .

@w1nthrophy: They don't come out until Late September, in-stores October.
You have the uplifted 2018 model, and yes it is improved.

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: Wrong again. The 2019 models have just been released.

                • -2

@miq: My information came from Apple George Street, who recommended waiting until October.
Clearly wrong if you say they are out now.
Wondering if they also dropped $150 AUD like he promised.

JB website has already made it 10% off now, do you mean it will be an extra 10% off on top of that? too good to be true.

  • +1

Going away at the end of September and want to buy a 2019 MBA.

I hope they have another 10% off in a week’s time. How often do they have these anyway? Seems like it’s getting more and more frequent.

  • just talked to JB HIFI MEL central, they only do 10% off the ticket price ,thus is same as their website price today, no further 10% off today, sad
