Huawei P30 128GB $0 Upfront on Telstra $65/ Month 80GB Plan for 24 Months (When You Port Your Number) @ JB Hi-Fi (in-Store Only)

190

JB Hi-Fi have the Huawei P30 for $0 on a 24 month Telstra plan for $65 per month (80GB of data), in-store only, and if you port your number across.

Not as good as the recent deal where you only had to contract for 12 months plus no bonus gift card.

The P30 is available for just under $800 from this eBay deal so if you were thinking of buying it the monthly cost of the plan is around $32 per month.

There is a current Huawei promotion where you get a bonus Huawei Watch GT with the purchase of a P30 but I believe that you need to purchase directly from Telstra.

Amazing phone. Highly recommended. Should be able to get additional $10 off P/M via Telstra chat.

You mean the port in credit or something else

      • Port in credit. Plus a free $400 watch via redemption. Not bad for $55pm on Telstra 60gb per month. Essentially if you're on a two year contract and value the phone plan at $30per month for 60gb. Remaining contract is $25x24 months. $600 for the phone plus a free watch. Great deal.

        • excellent deal I reckon, but will there be any limitation feature wise from the google ban

          • @[Deactivated]: Google ban has had been dropped. Was just a Trump tactic to get media attention before the G20 summit.

            • @Duece1995: Good to hear,

Not worth it for 24 months lock in contract. 12 months contract plus some upfront cost is much better.

  • Anyone know if you can still change to the telstra no contract plans with no fee or have they closed the loophole

    • Don't think you can do it. You will be on a 65$ Mobile plan rather than 65 BYO plan which means you will have to pay for handset fees + ETC I think

        Everyone was successful here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/468222

Just want to know if they closed the loophole

        • +1

you are talking about 12 month BYO plan vs 24 months Mobile Plan.

          • @triplenet: not interested in this phone as i got the oppo in the link, but not sure why you think this is different.

Telstra don't have contracts on phone plans anymore, they are all month to month. they have separated phone costs (which are contracted) and phone plans. i think it would require seeing exactly what you are signing up for ie does the $65 include a phone component and sim component or only sim component ie they are giving you a gift card to pay outright for the phone same case as with the Oppo.

even if someone is successful in changing plans and porting out without fees it's always a gamble, you may not be able to do this. i took the risk with the oppo as it was only 12 months and i knew i could at least get $10 off the plan. I would not take the risk here on 24 months.

            • @n0mad: Because it's 24months Mobile Plan vs 12 Month BYO Plan. As I stated, You will be on the 24months Mobile Plan when you take this promotion. But hay you are welcome to try it and let us know which contract you end up with.

PS: I also got the Oppo phone from the last promotion.

        • Dealing with telstra has been a nightmare in the past. If theres a loophole they wont close. I recon theyve got whats coming to them. terribly organised company. Loved the line from that forum "dealing with telstra is like tossing a coin" - Absolute truth

  • The contract has Telstra on it.
So anyone from JB been able to claim the watch?

I only need to port out for a couple of days before signing up again last time, is this still the case?

    • Signed up to this today. Excellent deal IMO.
Regarding the watch, it looks like I'm outta luck. The Huawei promotions website stipulates that the phone must be purchased from either a Telstra or Vodaphone store to be eligible. My receipt and emailed statements only show JB Hifi with no mention of Telstra anywhere. Vice versa for my Telstra contract confirmation email.

      • what's the contract details on ur Telstra account ? does it list as Mobile plus or BYO plan?

        • Lol trying to get p30 for free, huh?

But Im keen to know as well.

        • $65 mobile plan, no plus. Penny for your thoughts?

          • @7effect: That means a contract with associated with mobile handsets fee. Don't think it's possible to change month to month plan without ETC.

      • +1

@7effect Did you still try to submit a form though? I did and it says "Claim Approved" when I tried to track it. What I sent them as proof was a screenshot of the PDF contained on the telstra email titled "WELCOME TO YOUR NEW PLAN". That should have a PDF containing the $65 plan details and that was the one I took a screenshot of.

        • Thanks heaps. Will give this a try.

          • +1

@7effect: How did your claim go? Mine will be delivered today. :)

            • +1

@savemesomemoney: How did you go about redeeming yours?
I purchased and got the P30 through JB HI FI and when i try submitting the form via Huawei's Website - it tells me a message that the IMEI is not found. I contacted them and they stated that is because the IMEI shows it is from JB HI FI and not Telstra/Vodafone like it should be.

              • +1

@jason92: It is coming today. Aus Post just sent me an email and SMS. And when I checked the claim status it says Dispatched and the date. Did you try the steps I mentioned above? I used IMEI1 which you can get by typing *#06# on your p30/p30 pro and didn't have any troubles even if it was from JB.

                • @savemesomemoney: Dude! Mine says dispatched and includes a tracking number!!! Excited but wont celebrate until it actually arrives. I'll keep you up to date :-)

        • What was the waiting time between submitting the claim and seeing "claim approved" in tracking?
I just submitted mine, got the email with details, clicked 'track my claim' and "claim approved" has already been dated as today.

          • @Ughhh: At least a week after approval then it got dispatched as for my claim.

            • @savemesomemoney: What about time between submitting claim and "claim approved"?

              • @Ughhh: That I can't remember.

                • +1

                  @savemesomemoney: Thanks anyway.

Just got email that my watch has been dispatch. From claim submitted, to approved and dispatched within 24hrs.

  • they closed the loophole?

  • P30 is also available for $299 on the $65 12 month plan until the end of the month.
$100 more than the last deal, but just another option for anyone looking for a new contract.

  • To anyone interested on this plan, the $10 port in credit CAN POSSIBLY be applied still if you are lucky with your agent. Read an advice on one of the threads here and applied it. Now I just have to pay $55 for this. :) Will look for that comment to give credits to the person.

    • "I did it last weekend when jb had the same deal with free TCL tv. Pretty sure the $10 monthly port in credit offer had expired but I still messaged the 24/7 telstra chat line anyway.

After your sim is activated they will ask for your details but tbh it really depends if you get a nice consultant or not. Some will still do it, some won't. It's how you word it to them but be friendly. Don't ask the question about the port in credit, tell them you want it applied as you are a new customer and was told by another telstra consultant that it could be done and that's the whole reason you signed up.

Guess you're taking a risk as you are contacting them after you have ported in already but the JB deal itself isn't bad anyway.

I probably didn't help you with my answer lol"
