This is great!! Got it in previous deal, but good to know more people will get it!

    • +5

Yep got this during Prime, lot's of people missed out, well done to Amazon for opening it up again.

I am going to send some PM's out to users I know who wanted this.

Now the real question is if there are any of the DLC or add-on packs worth grabbing at Amazon prices…

      • +1

Cheers for the message. Bit the bullet and got it! Thanks

      • +8

DLC… You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

        • Yet everybody understands what he means.

          • +2

@baldur: Agreed!! (I really just wanted an excuse to quote The Princess Bride)

            • +3

@mprisk: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed this board game thread by using 'DLC' instead of 'expansion'. Prepare to die.

I feel like the game feels incomplete until you get Invaders from Afar.

As far as The Wind Gambit goes, the airships are meh, but I like the resolution tiles. Wouldn't go out of your way for them alone though.

Rise of Fenris is supposedly excellent, but I haven't played what I've got enough to justify it yet.

I also bought the promo combat dials for all the factions (came with the Kickstarter, but not in the retail version), which kind of fits the "game feels incomplete until…" category.

        • I noticed the Metal coins add-on is only for the core five factions?

    • Have people who ordered from the last deal had theirs shipped? Mine hasn't been shipped yet, though it's been a couple of days and subsequent orders have shipped

      • +1

I received an email from Amazon very early this morning stating that my Scythe copy had been shipped.

        • Just an update, delivered this afternoon.

  • Woo! Got it this time :D

  • Glad this deal came back, missed it last time.

  • Thanks OP. missed the last one by minutes…

  • Got one as well now - thanks! :-)

  • Thanks OP, just nabbed it myself :)

Wondering if I should get this game. Is this worth the hype or the price? I currently play Pandemic and enjoy it.

    • +1

It's a great game but quite different to pandemic. Depends if you like the coop of pandemic or want to try something competitive.

If you see a deal on pandemic legacy, that's a great one to play also, though I find it really hard to go back to playing normal pandemic.

    • Another vote for Pandemic Legacy. We didn't mind Pandemic but found it slightly meh. But Pandemic Legacy was brilliant.

    • +1

I have this game and quite like it myself, but while its pretty easy to get people to try it, its been about 50/50 whether or not people actually want to play it again amongst my friends.

if you're coming from Pandemic only I probably wouldn't recommend it. If you like Pandemic, Pandemic Legacy is sure to be a hit, but personally I'd broaden my horizons a little bit first. Check out The Quest for El Dorado, Gizmos, Azul or maybe Splendor. All cheaper than Scythe at the moment and all really fantastic games.

    • Scythe is not a coop game like Pandemic. There is some competition involved but you can choose not to attack/fight someone if you don't want to (i.e. house rules).

If people are interested in legacy/campaign games, then perhaps consider the Rise of Fenris expansion for Scythe.

    • Scythe is excellent. Decisions feel meaningful and complexity is high but every mechanic feels like it adds to the game. The game flow can be pretty streamlined after you play a few times.

9c more expensive than last time. No deal /s

  • Thanks missed out last time cheers OP!

as per another user on another post, the rankings on BGG are just a popularity contest, and must be taken with a grain of salt

please don't shoot this messenger :)

Of course in the end that you like a game depends on your preferences. But if you read what is it about, and find it interesting, there is a HUGE chance you will like it.
Same goes with movies, video games, books, and so on

I dont know, Gloomhaven is pretty unreal

  • Thanks OP, managed to grab one :)

Price has now been reset to $97.85.

    • It still shows 63 to me, you need to be log in to see it maybe?

    • I just got it at the lower price.

    • Seems like you're looking at it on Amazon AU, need to be on Amazon US.

      • -1

No, it looks like it changed back to 63 straight away.

        • +1

There is definitely one being sold on Amazon AU for $97.85. I searched and it was the first result.

          • @Schmiddler: Yes, me too. You then click the "32 new from $63.60" and the 4th option down is the Amazon US seller.

I just bought this successfully, no freight as a Prime member.

      • If you go to the actual Amazon US store, they hit you up and for $40+ freight

  • This is not suitable for kids right? Any suggestion for a good one?

  • +1

First came up for me as $98 (in stock) and when I re-clicked the link it went to $63 (In stock on July 27, 2019)

    • +2

Need to be logged in to a prime account for the discounted price to show up cause it's coming from Amazon US

  • Thanks bud - Bouhgt. Looks legit

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get these painted without spending too much? I'm not sure my skills would be up for the job (plus the initial outlay for all the paints & equipment for a one time thing) and to do it on consignment seems to cost a minimum of $100-$200. Or is it really not that bad paying with it unpainted? What do you plan on doing with your figurines/game miniatures?

    • +2

If you find a service that does this for a good price, I would be interested in painted Scythe pieces, but especially for Talisman figures.

The first time I walked into a Games Workshop was when I was 13 years old with my Mum. The guy at the store recommended I get an Imperial Guard army as my first ever experience with painting. I hate that guy and never painted anything ever again.

I spent less than $15 on bottles of light grey, concrete wash and a clear coat to do a rough and dirty paint job - darks fill the crevices, lights hit the high spots - just to bring out the details in the models.

For me it's definitely a significant upgrade over the unpainted models, without the massive investment you need to get a proper paint job, DIY or otherwise.

You're probably looking at at least $60 for a set of paints and many many more hours than I spent (not too mention the skills required) to get a good finish, and to pay someone else I doubt you could get it done for less than $200 tbh.

      • +1

HI @diamondd, can you describe a bit more in detail your painting process? Sounds like a good project :)

        • +2

so this is what I bought: https://i.imgur.com/yeiy4z7l.jpg

the air brush thinner was just too stretch the paint out, but if I had my time again I wouldn't bother.

for the mechs I gave them all one coat of clear (it claims it doesn't need a base coat/primer to stick to, so far so good). For the character minis I used the gull grey to lighten them up a bit to get more out of the wash.

then you just hit them with the wash. You can really slop it on, then follow up with a dryer brush to pick up the excess.

then I hit the mechs with tiny amounts of the gull grey for the highlights. Look up dry brushing on YouTube.

then once all that is dry, really dry, chuck another coat of clear on.

I'm out at the moment, but if people respond to this I'll get them out and take a photo or two.

          • +1

@diamondd: Please take a photo, I'm very interested to see. Thanks!

p.s. Looks like you may have made a typo on your first image there, as it seems to be a broken link/missing image.

Now I need to make some friends… because playing board games by yourself leads to psychosis.

    • Maybe there is a local board game store near you that does game nights? Make sure to stock up on Lynx Africa before you attend.

  • When I click on the link it takes me to Amazon AU with price $97.85. Have I missed the deal? Or do I need to do something through Amazon US?

    • +1

You need to log in with your prime account, as it is delivered from the US for free. Then you will see the sale price

  • +1

Logged in with PRIME. Price is still $97.85

    Looks Gonski

    • Same here :(

    • Yeah must be sold out. I had the exact same issue with the sale on prime day. Good news is the deal came back when they got more in stock so maybe it will be back in a few days.

  • From my prime account:

    32 new from $97.85
