Next Credit Card with QFF Bonus Points Churn Suggestions

Currently on the Westpac/Amex bundle which is expiring next month. Any reasonable QFF bonus points credit card promotions on now with low annual fees <$200 for me to churn next? Was rejected by BankSA Amplify signature so not going there again.

Looks like a lot of the good huge QFF bonus points/first year fee-free deals last year are not being renewed. Saw the Amex Velocity 100k points deal which would be great but Virgin doesn't do much international flights which is a dealbreaker for me. Thanks!

    • Looking at the Qantas Premier Everyday Credit Card.

      https://www.qantasmoney.com/credit-cards/premier-everyday?int_cam=au:qf_cdsel:cs001:qpe_jun_2019_qa_qcdsel:en:qpe&source=NRN54YCH&utm_medium=Qantas+Assets&utm_source=Qantas+card+selector&utm_campaign=Everyday&utm_content=Qantas+card+selector-Qantas+Assets-Everyday-Jun-2019-42k+$29-NA-NA-CS001-NA

      $29 annual fee (1st year)
      7000 points/month for =/>$1000 spend for 1st 6 months (42000 points for $6000 spend + careful spend monitoring)

      Opinions?

      • Did you end up getting this one?

I'm currently looking and this looks like the best offer at the moment

        • Changed my plan and am now using the HSBC Global Everyday for 2% off all paywave payments <$100.

But your comment suggesting that this looks like the best offer atm has resurrected my intention to get a new credit card for big ticket items in the next few months (home insurance, Christmas, hotel bookings…).

          • @hubs1982: I had another look over the weekend and based on the Bonus Points/Annual Fee ratio, the BankSA/St George/Bank of Melbourne deal trumps the Qantas Premier Everyday Card. You get 60,000 points on $2k spend for roughly the same fee

  • Following.

I avoid cards with annual fees in the first year, but can't see any $0 cards with a big bonus and no fee right now.

The only deal I can find at the moment with a minimum fee ($49) is on the page linked above, and is the one you wanted to avoid. It's the Amplify Platinum Cards (BankSA / Bank of Melbourne / St George), which gives 60K points on a $2000 spend (https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/affiliate/…)

From what I can tell there is no $50 Qantas fee wither that some cards have.

Can anyone see ay better? Velocity?

The closest I can see is the Platinum version of the Qantas Premier Everyday one posted above Qantas Premier Platinum Credit Card (https://www.qantasmoney.com/credit-cards/premier-platinum), but this one has a $200 fee (too much) and 20K for $1500 spend per month for 6 months (120000 points for $9000 spend + careful spend monitoring) (too much and too complicated).

  • I think the St George one really is better than the Qantas everyday $49 fee (with citi), and is now half yearly membership fee to before. $50 fee for 60k points is still good in the current market.

If after velocity points (no bonus) this is a good alternative https://virginmoney.com.au/products/credit-card/flyer-credit…. $50 annual fee but $129 flight. I see this being sold in classified a lot around $100+ so you'll get your annual fee back yearly that way. Only problem is that it's with citi which can be a pain.

The best value assuming you travel once year domestically with someone is the amex one $450 fee and $450 credits but I think they have a 18month exclusion. That gets you 100k points.

    My 2 cents.

  • +1

Looks like a lot of the good huge QFF bonus points/first year fee-free deals last year are not being renewed

You can thank the Banking Royal Commission for that.

I'm in the same boat. My Westpac/Amex bundle is expiring next month as well and am looking out for some deals. Preferably with $0 annual fee in the first year.

  • No sure the OP wants to touch the St George offer. If he is trying to stay away from Bank SA and they are owned by St George.

  • Any luck OP?

I'm about to cancel my Westpac/Amex bundle
