      • South Melb store was 8.50 as of yesterday but other stores in South Eastern suburbs were $4. Not sure today.

Don't price drops start on Wednesdays?

          • +1

Don't price drops start on Wednesdays?

Price changes often occur on Wednesdays, some things drop, some revert to normal price.

  • +2

They were this price last week too. Got them in West End QLD.

    • Thanks. Will get them there.

      • No worries, there were plenty.

  • None on the shelves. Checked with the manager who looked up the PDA and none of the stores showing any. It's a discontinued item.

    • Didn't TA say : May only be available in selected stores.

      • +1

Doubt it, as it says it's a mod note in unmissable bold.

    • +1

      Discontinued?

      Noooooo

  • +6

    Got them in zetland Sydney

      are you making that up?

  • Is Macademia nut oil the healthiest cooking oil we have in this country?

    • +8

This kind of question is begging for non-evidence-based answers. Take answers with a grain of salt.

      • Don't add salt or it won't be healthy any more

        • +1

But oil and salt is my favourite combo

        what a load of rubbish

        • -7

Sure thing, keep drinking olive oil and other "healthy" oils by the gallons daily. I'm sure the oil industry loves people like you.

        I take it you're anti-vax

    • +1

There's a lot of good olive oil in this country, for cheaper

  • Not in North Queensland :(

  • 200 bags! Oh…

  • +1

    I love deez nuts

  • +6

They've been this price for a couple of weeks. They're excellent value at that price, as they're actually pretty good macadamias, better than the Woolies ones and about the same as the QV markets.

    • They taste amazing, the fatty flavour really comes through, like salted butter mmm

  • -7

    Salted…not healthy.

    • +1

      Not a fact.

      • It is.

        Salt and high blood pressure
Eating too much sodium over time can increase your risk of high blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for heart disease. For a healthy heart, it’s important not to eat too much salt.

Nobody is telling you to smash a whole pack in one sitting…

          • +1

@Munki: what other way is there to eat salted nuts?

        • As Munki said, this is a bag. You can't say it's too much because no one is forcing you to eat the whole bag. You can snack on a handful and be fine.
Some people's diets require them to supplement sodium. These nuts are super helpful for that.

Did you know vegetables contain sodium too? Doesn't make them unhealthy.

            • @Munki: Yeah .. they irrigate the hybridized wheat with it, and add glyphosate to it .. the bastards!

        • +1

Too much of anything is harmful, so I think simply stating that salt is unhealthy is both incorrect and unnecessary.

    • Can you wash them?

      • -1

        Are they dirty?

    • Bill Gates approves this message.

    • I washed it. It tastes sweet after that

      • Are we talking about the same nuts here

  • Thank you for the good finding.

    • -1

They didn't find them, Price Hipster did.

  • +1

$20/kg, very cheap, noticed low stock the other week when purchased, only 3 bags on shelf.

  • Nutty price!

All oils are unhealthy. They're literally just fat, so moderation is the key."
OK,so Olive Oil is no good for you, right?

    • +1

If you're drinking by the glass - yes it's probably not good for you.

      Diet is all about moderation.

          from the article you linked:

Lots of people in the Mediterranean drink about one-fourth of a cup of extra-virgin olive oil every morning.

Hardly the same as what i meant

As I said its also based on the whole diet, if you have a diet primarily eating doughnuts and ice cream in excess, a glass (or 1/4 cup even) of olive oil is probably bad for you. Bear in mind 1/4 cup of olive oil is close to 500 calories, which is likely not going to deliver a whole lot of vitamins if you aren't living in poverty, it's better spent on other foods. Just cause it's common (?) in the Mediterranean diet doesn't mean its for you.

Also that website sells olive oil, one has to wonder if there's some sort of bias. Funny that you picked the second link returned for 'drinking olive oil' as that made your case.

Any stock available around Mel CBD?

  • +1

Keto people, would this be good for keto diet?

    • +2

In MODERATION, yes. (Like a lot of things.) Macadamias are good keto nuts, but they're still nuts, so you have to be careful if you're aiming at 20g or so of carbs.

    • +3

Yum, these are great for Keto. 50g snack of these (approx 20 nuts) is only 3g carbs! Thanks OP, gonna stock up!

    • +1

would this be good for keto diet?

cauliflower is cheaper and only $2.50 each at the moment.

    • -3

Why wouldn't they be? Do you know what keto is?

    • +2

Hell yeah they are, just make sure they fit in your calorie limit if you're counting them, cause they are very fatty.

  • +1

They were this price on Sunday at Coles in Gunghalin, ACT. Then on Monday they were $2 a packet. I didn't bother posting because my wife went back and cleared them out. If this item is being discontinued then I will be very sad (in several months time) as IMO these are the best tasting macadamias readily available in supermarkets.

    • Agree in a foil pack…so they keep nice and fresh.

      Till you open them 😄

    • There were heaps at Canberra Centre coles. Got a pack this morning for $4.

  • Slightly related, my store had 500g Beer Nuts (Salted peanuts with skins) for $1.50.

    • Which store?

      • +1

Coburg Vic, was a few days ago though so may not be there.

    • had the same in my search of macadamia. settled for beer nuts.

better than nibbling nobby's nuts i guess (that commercial was always explicit in my mind)

  • +1

This was the price for the whole week in Melb….thought prices would go back up this week….hm…

They are very nice…my family stock up….(expire till Feb 2020)

    • Do you know where there is stock in Melbourne?

        Tweed Heads

        • Nice. Hope you travelled south of the border just to deprive Tweed scum of cheap macadamia nuts.
