  • So if you sign up for this does it reset your 18 months exclusion period to earn bonus points with other cards?

    • +2

it is not counted as an amex issued card

  • At 25k for one-way J class with Cathay within S.E.A this is quite a good offering.

    • Is this after the increase in rates?

      • Yes I checked it because Asia miles now allows you to do multi city award search.

        • Oh so converting the MR to Asia miles and not qantas points?

          • +1

@G14Classified: That’s my personal preference. Not sure what your preferences would be.

  • Sorry, the American Express online application is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

    • Hi Congo, I've managed to replicate that error too.I've escalated with Amex. Will advise when we have an update! EDIT: we're not seeing the error occur (have tested across multiple browsers), but do let me know if you experience any further issues.

How much is a DJ point worth in real moneys?

    • +1

Hi Cnut, that depends on what you use them for :) 45,000 Membership Reward Points is enough for 22,500 frequent flyer points or miles with programs such as KrisFlyer, Velocity or Cathay Pacific Asia miles. It's also enough for $300 in David Jones gift cards or $200 worth of value with Ticketmaster, American Express Travel Online or in gift cards for other retailers.

        Thanks.

got too many cards, otherwise this sounds alright

  • Hi OP, once we opt for Qantas Point for example, can we change it to Membership Reward Point later on?

    • Hi Alucard, You are able to switch between the programs once per year.

  • What? This used to be the normal rate before. 30k MR points = 22.5k Qantas points. It's just that they devalued the program and then up the bonus to 45k MR. In actual this is the same as before. No deal

As you said, "Used to be". This is still good for people wanting an Amex and getting a bonus, while having an existing non DJ amex or serving the 18month wait.

  • Ok hear me out fellow OzBargainers, am appreciative of any advice.

I'm new to frequent flyer points and I am booking like 3/4 grand in airfares internationally coming up.

I had a look at ANZ Black card that has like 100,000 bonus points for spending 4000 in first three months.

Is this David Jones card a better deal here and do you have to pay these cards annual fees upfront ?

    • +1

do you have to pay these cards annual fees upfront ?

Yes, you'll be charged the annual fee upfront in your first statement, regardless of card issuer.

    • Can't speak for all cards that have fees, but yes they usually charge this within the first issued statement.

  • How much money do you typically have to spend to make the annual fee worth it?

  • if you already have a dj store card do you qualify for this promo points?

    • Hi, you qualify if you've not held a American Express David Jones credit card in the past 18 months.

  • Would this be a decent card to keep for work expenses while I churn other Amex cards with high sign up bonuses?

  • Anyone know if government charges counts towards the min spend?

  • can you convert the MR points to qantas later? or is it MR or QFF points? reason i ask is i want the option to select a frequent flyer program when i have a flight in mind
