      If you set up your Switch for Australia it will be in AUD. It is common for people to create a second Nintendo account on their switch and set it to the US in order to access the US store and pricing which can be cheaper even with our weaker dollar. When you have multiple accounts on your Switch it will ask you which user (AU or US) wants to access the eStore and change the pricing and currency accordingly.

          @Assyrian: Just an added note, I personally do not bother with the whole US account thing as you have to purchase US Nintendo eStore gift cards, and after the exchange rate and even if they are on sale I have found you only save a couple of dollars unless something is heavily discounted.
