  • Wow that is amazing price especially for a back lit panel.

  • Is that oled?

    • -2

      Qled

    • +2

      No, LCD.

    • +2

      ULED

    • +3

Aren't you all technically right? It's ULED which is Hisense's LED LCD technology with Quantum Dot, so the same as Samsung's QLED.

      • +5

LCD & ‘OLED’ describes panel type. Only LG makes OLED TV panels and are consistently rated higher fidelity than all LCDs.
The ‘LED’ in “LED LCD” is redundant - no new TVs use CCFL backlight anymore - all use blue or white LEDs. (‘QD’ is a method to obtain white light from blue LEDs for backlight.)

        • Very clear. TV buyers should know these basics before purchasing.

          • +1

@WayneOZ: It sucks for consumers when Samsung do dodgy shit like QLED with the Q looking almost like an O to trick people into thinking it’s something else.

            • -3

@cnut: Lol really? I don't know that people would take "QLED" as "OLED" for this visual trick. If this is the case then it sounds dodgy indeed. As an engineer I have never connect them together in my brain as I clearly know the difference both physically and theoretically.

              • @WayneOZ: Yeah we would, but the average consumer doesn’t. It’s definitely done intentionally.

                • @cnut:

                  It’s definitely done intentionally.

                  You making that up.

Nooo. You mean to tell me soniq is not a play on sony brand. And then there palsonic copying panasonic.

                  /s

            • @cnut: Just like Hongda motorcycle.

  • Holy Mackerel that is an amazing price!

  • How much they normally sell for?

    • +1

      Retail of $4700?
      https://hisense.com.au/product/75-series-9-75p9/
Although Appliances Online have it listed as $6k RRP but I think that's old pricing and these are likely discontinued as the R line is out now and the P line are being cleared out.

Either way, great price for a TV of that size and spec.

    Vizzini: Inconceivable!

  • Ticketed Price?

  • How long will it be at this price?

  • I'm there tomorrow morning!

    • Incredible TV for the price, just surprised there is no bluetooth for the audio!

      • Purchased!

  • +3

That's a damn good price. Several JB's in Newcastle refused to go under $2500 for the 75P7 just a week ago. Went to Good Guys instead where they happily price matched the eBay sale and got it for $2200.

An extra hundred for the top series is crazy.

  • Is this a deal available to others or a one off negotiated deal?

    • Take in screenshot of receipt. If they say no, look for another staff member. Worked for me on previous 75p8

    • Look at my comment below. I went and purchased one in Victoria.

      • Ticketed Price, or had to haggle?

        • No haggle. They just wanted to make sure that the purchase in WA was real. After they checked, the manager gave the ok.

          On the receipt it says

Discounted: Price Match - Other - Jb
          Osborne Park

4 people is a low sample size and people often don't complain when things work well…

      • true that

      • true that

      • Or even bother reviewing. As you say. Also are the reviews for the 65 or 75 incher? The reviews from the professionals seemed pretty good, apart from the fact they may have only had for a short length of time.
Reflection is an issue and the User Interface is a bit primitive according to the pro's, but that was about the main criticisms.

    • have u actually tried walk into jb and show them the receipt ? if not u shouldn't neg OP

      • Negotiated prices aren't deals sorry, So I post up a deal I made if I purchased a car..

    • See my comment below.

This TV isnt as good as the specs make it out to be. Its actually an 8bit+FRC Panel, and the two professional reviews I could find both say it has washed out colours in HDR. AVForums and Trustedreviews. Also the backlight system looks good on paper with 1056 zones but performs poorly in real viewing.

    • What would you recommend as far as 75” go? I’m looking for something but no idea what at this stage.

      • +3

For the price range, nothing is going to compare to this.

Gbickle's criticisms are valid at the RRP, but at this price range you're otherwise looking at far inferior Samsung/Hisense panels with even worse issues. Good HDR basically doesn't exist outside OLED and the flagship LCD's, and expect to pay at least double the price for any of those in 75 inches

        Sure it's not as good as a X90F or Q9FN, but it's a lot better than a P7 or a RU7100 etc.

        • +1

Ark94, I totally agree. Great value if you are after a 75", there is nothing for under $2500 that would come close. Maybe with firmware updates Hisense have improved some of the issues of the earlier shipped units?. Who knows.

    • Where do you get the 8bit+FRC from? From spec it's 10bit.
      Their P7/8 are 10bit, there's no reason P9 would be 8bit.

I now have a Hisense 75P8 which is great but I cannot get surround sound to work properly. Samsung 7.1 Home Theatre System HT-E6750W with Samsung TV previosuly and now have the Hisense TV.

The home theatre system supports AC3 audio so surround sound used to work with AC3 but now with the Hisense TV I cannot get surround sound to work and don't know why. Any ideas?

A movie file on usb stick into TV with ARC so audio goes to home theatre system. Cannot get rear speakers to do their surround sound as they used to.I also tried HDMI cable from computer to home theatre system with no luck. Pretty frustrating.

    • Look in the TV settings for Audio output. There are usually two options: Bitstream or PCM. Try the other.

      • RAW and dolby digital ought to be options as well.

    • You checking the source to ensure they have the supported codecs? Not much detail on your manual for the TV. There's a few options on page 13, using the sound menu > digital audio.
Failing that hit their support channels.

  • $2,888 on the site. All from warehouse and “ex display”. So I’d say this was a store specific clearance or negotiated deal and not the price you can actually get it for.

    • See my comment below.

  • +5

If anyone is keen, JB in Belrose is honouring this deal and they can deliver from warehouse. I asked my dad if he wanted but he decided not to take up the offer just thought someone else whose looking can give them a call and take it

  • Only ex-demos in WA.

  • +4

I went today and purchased one in Victoria.

    How I did it:

    1. Said I wanted to buy one, the store assistant he said $2888
    2. I showed OZB photo to assistant
    3. He spoke with the store manager. Both of them looked on their computer, at the OP's sale in WA. Yes, they can search and see it. The manager saw it and she agreed to have the price reduced to $2360 + $59 delivery.

Brand new, boxed. Almost $500 under the discounted price. The store assistant couldn't believe it.

Bought this morning at 10:30 AM, at Chadstone, Victoria.

Happy to post the receipt should anyone want.

    • Yes please!
Nearly pulled the pin on the 75p8 few weeks back. How is the TV?
To the bigger crowd - what do you guys think about 75p9 (this TV) vs 75R8 that has just been released?

      • Check private message.

    • Hi,would you like to share your receipt? Thanks.

      • Can't send you messages.

        • Sorry, could you please send it again? Thanks.

    • Hey Im from Melbourne too can you please share your receipt? Have u recieved the unit yet? Any feedback ?

    • A bit late for this..but the site now says ex-display only… Did anyone get brand new in the box? recently

      • Yep, instore on 4/8/19, sales guy checked stock levels online for both the 75P8 and 75P9 and reported that some stores had 1 or 2 units in store, but that Sydney warehouse still had plenty of stock of each.

  • +3

That's a good price. I grabbed the 75p8 for $1699 delivered from JB on Sunday. Just a week earlier they had it for 1995 and wouldn't budge off the price.

    • +2

Hi, would you like to share your receipt? This is a very good price for 75P8 as well. Thank you

      • +1

yes please if you can share the receipt thanks

  • Did you pay $59 or $69 for delivery? (Is it on the receipt?)

    • $59 on receipt

  • Very good price, unfortunately non available in SA.

  • +1

Amazing deal OP, but I was almost relieved when my local store said they couldn't match it.

In truth, I was struggling to justify the the $619 premium for the 75P9 over the 75P8, so grabbed it at $1,799 delivered instead.

Since sidee says he got his 75P8 at $1,699 - it may be that my local store aren't as flexible or I'm not as compelling in negotiations. Either way, the salesman I spoke with confirmed that Sydney warehouse still had stock of both, so do your best negotiating on these two great runout deals…

Thanks and good luck OP - this deal deserves a 100 vote badge!

    • agree have you got a receipt you could shoot me?

      • Go nuts. But as mentioned, another posted claimed to have got it $100 cheaper at $1699 delivered - so do your worst…
