I use the large sized Topo at work. It's a fantastic mat. But if you're in a hot desking office and need to move it around a lot, it's quite bulky.

Not being sarcastic or anything, but if you tired from standing cant you change the standing desk to a sitting desk and get a chair?

    • +1

Valid question. The idea is to allow standing for longer periods without becoming tired, maximising your standing time and the benefits that go with it.

    • +4

There is leg fatigue (in which case you should sit down), but then there is a longer term leg soreness which these are for. For the same reason you don't sit on a plank of wood instead of an office chair…

    • Yes.. your ideal setup is being on a variable desk so that you can alternate. Being stationary in the same position for an extended period of time is not good for you, whether it be standing or sitting - standing is just the lesser evil as sitting will give you more lower back issues.

That's the reason for the "Not Flat" mats - you don't stay in the same position the entire time you're using it.

Had a quick look through ebay/catch. Seems like these mats don't really get any cheaper than this. Bought 1.

Great deal! Many thanks for posting.

I read the review on the site re: Standsoft mat, and people are saying there is an oily residue. Can that be cleaned off?

    • Yes occasionally some mats have an oily residue which is a byproduct of the manufacturing process. This can be cleaned off easily with spray and wipe and should not occur again.

    • +2

I ended up washing mine to get rid of the oil. Made for a fun couple days with the kids falling over all over the place though, had ours in the kitchen.

      • Yikes! Thanks for the feedback, I hope no one was seriously injured. Note to all users, please check for residue and clean if necessary before using!

Hi OP, I'm wondering how the Standsoft one compares with these two that I was considering for my home-office.
These are a little thicker too than your one too…

    • Difficult to say without having compared each one side by side. In this case I imagine they would be more of less the same, although I'd be interested to hear if any other readers have experience with these mats. Thickness does not always equal firmness, which is a really important feature of any good standing desk mat.

      • Thanks for the honest answer. Will yours still work well on carpet? I'm scared the lack of a rigid surface below doesn't give it enough support.

        • Depends on how thick/soft your carpet is. If it's just standard commercial grade office or home carpet, the Standsoft is fine (our office is carpeted and we all use the mats here). If you have plush or shagpile style carpet you may notice some sinking.

          • @Ausergo: It's home carpet… short. I wouldn't call it plush, but definitely not shagpile. All good, I'll order one now :) Thanks for your replies.

            • @OMG Bargain: Thank you! Not a problem. If it doesn't work out you can always use it in the kitchen :)

              • @Ausergo: Will the Stanfsoft mat work well in an ourdoor kitchen environment with slight exposure to elements?

                • @moo: The Standsoft is designed for indoor use. That being said, it is oil resistant and waterproof so in theory it should work fine, the only thing that could be an issue is exposure to sun. Is the kitchen area under cover?

                  • @Ausergo: Yeah undercover inside the paved patio area.

                    • @moo: This should be fine so long as it's not constantly in direct sunlight.

  • I got a Standsoft last time and its awesome in the kitchen! I just bought two more, thanks!

    • Thank you! Glad you like them.

  • I never understood standing desks… sure might be better than sitting upright, but it's scientifically proven that reclining is best… zerogravity…

As soon as space travel becomes more accessible to the every day office worker I am sure it will be a huge hit!

Jokes aside, the idea of a sit stand desk is not just to stand all day. The benefit is gained by alternating between sitting and standing frequently throughout the day to avoid the pitfalls of being in a static position for long periods of time.

  • This SHOULD be tax deductible for most people as well (obviously only if using for work and confirm with your accountant).

    Will definitely grab one :)

  • Standsoft sold out :(

    • Damn. Second time I've missed out.

      • There are still 40 left, we have just discovered our website had an error with stock reporting. We have now fixed the error, you should be able to complete your purchase. Apologies for this!
