    Let's hope it isn't being administered by the same people who did the now infamous Ben and Jerry's gift card promo!

    • you read my god damn mind!

    • +1

      Dude, I’m getting flashbacks!

    • +1

      What happened?

      • +13

        It's was a promo that made a concerted effort to deny claims, by making claiments submit evidence multiple times, making claimants reply to email confirmation links within short and specific windows of time (whilst threatening cancellation for not doing it in time), dodgy website what wouldn't recognise existing login details… And many many more. It was a shameful act of fraud IMHO.

        • All three people I know who claimed itz received it

        • Oh good times. That sounds like a company about 10 years ago, when they offered 100% cash back on purchases with a number of bigger retailers for expensive items including beds/electrical… but to get the cash back you had to follow a series of steps post-purchase that virtually guaranteed you weren't getting your 100% cashback.

    • +1

      I'm still waiting for my gift card from Ben & Jerry……..

      • Good lord. Have you received any communication from them.?

        • nah.. i'm giving up, eyeing for another promo on something else.

          • +2

            @imrichkid: That's the spirit, don't let those bastards break you!

      • +2

        I finally got mine. I had to submit my receipts twice. Chase up with over 3 emails. You need to follow up repeatedly. What a debacle.

        • Oh god, such is life… to live on freebies

      • Pls check your spam equivalent folder(s) in email. Mine went there and I had to search but found it. From memory they have a 6 months claim and expiry date. So important to use it promptly. Good luck!

    • Agree! I bought 2 tubs and have taken photos of receipts. Came back saying that they were unable to see the date of purchase and item transactions on both receipts. Both claims were rejected. They didnt ask me to upload them again. Not going to do this time. Not worth the effort

      • +2

        They asked me to resubmit the image with no reason given. I resubmitted exactly the same image and it was granted.

        Not going to do this time. Not worth the effort

        Get back on the cashback horse, B&J was the exception, not the rule.

  • What was the Up&Go one?

    • Someone link me here thanks.
      It was when each pack was marked with a code that when put into the website will give you some form of cashback.

        • +10

          you forgot to factor in the utility their products give u

          • +5

            @avocatto: u forgot to factor in the utility gained from the thrill of gambling

            • @TEER3X: didn't take that into account since it's priceless for me

            • @TEER3X: Utility of gambling is subjective and varies by person

          • @avocatto: Utility of the products is factored in by the price you pay for the product

        • +1

          Lol. So it's only a deal if they give away 3 free items?

      • similar to the Up&Go one
        some form of cashback.

        I suggest you remove that line because that is misleading. Up&Go was competition where your chance of winning was just luck (or probability).

        This one if I understand correctly is a cashback
        with at least $5 cashback upto $100. Otherwise this post would go to competition section.

        • Done thanks

    • It was this competition, but not every code would win.

  • +3

    Buy 3 X $3.50 = $10.50 get just over $7 back on average .

    If that product the cheapest one .

    Next ? is how much you data worth and how hard to collect ?

    Personally with this mob only go for gift cards with points offered instantly .

    • Cheapest Philly product I could find at Woolies was 3.20
      There's some sale coming up on the ham or something though

  • +3

    Thanks OP, good deal for me since I wanted some cream cheese anyway.

    • What do you eat it with?

      • +5

        You turn it into a cheesecake!

      • Cream cheese blocks for cheesecake and cream cheese icing with carrot cake. Spreadable cream cheese with bagels.

      • +2

        Stuffed mushrooms

      • +3

        Everything bagels with cream cheese. Breakfast of champions

      • +1

        Fill the centers of celery sticks with it, sprinkle with paprika. Delicious in salads or as a snack.

        • -1

          Nice ideas guys! So in total not very healthy snacks except maybe the Celery sticks :)

      • Make a cob loaf

        • Oh mannnn that's definitely not good for ya especially with the bacon but damn I'm hungry and it looks good!!

          • @FrozenFred: I normally make mine without the bacon as I have a lot of vegetarian friends. Always a hit at parties.

  • -5

    Buy 3 philly, do it on your phone, return, ??????

    • +2

      I thought confirmation wasn't instant, especially if it's anything like the Ben and Jerry's one

      • +1

        2 days

    • +2

      I ve never tried it but I doubt they would allow change of mind returns on fridge products unless they plan to just write it off after being returned.

    • +1

      I don’t agree with this kind of practice.

  • +3

    In case anyone is wondering the expected value is:

    $5 - 81% -> 4.05
    $10 - 17%-> 1.7
    $50 - 1.4% -> 0.7
    $100 - 0.6% -> 0.6

    $7.05.

    • -3

      Not sure this is correct, as you only win one prize

      The terms state:

      You will be instantly notified on-screen as to what prize you have provisionally won

      ie the majority will win $5

      • +1

        You're mixing up expected value and mode.

        The expected value is just the mean of a distribution.

    • +1

      In case anyone is wondering the expected value is:
      $5 - 81% -> 4.05
      $10 - 17%-> 1.7
      $50 - 1.4% -> 0.7
      $100 - 0.6% -> 0.6

      $7.05.
      i think you misunderstood what the OP was saying there

      The percentage was the chance of getting that value gift card, not a mathematical equation of spend to bonus value.

      • +4

        But that's what an expectation value is. Eg 50% chance to win $10 means on average, you will get $5 per try.

        Here, each time you buy one set, your expected returns is on average $7.05 (typically you'll get $5, with some small chance of earning more). Of course, that is averaged over many many purchases, so ymmv.

        • -1

          ahh ok, i mis-interpreted "expected value" … i still don't think its useful to know and even misleading for 99.99999% of people who would take part in this cashback, ie only those that plan to buy a few hundred sets purely for the cashback even though they don't really like the product would care.

  • +1
