  • How much do you think you can flip the SSD and Steam credit for?

    • +1

      $75?

      • This pretty much. $30-35 for the steam credit, and 40-50 for the ssd

  • Any deals on the AMD ITX x570s?

MSI top tier boards (Godlike, Ace, Creation) are also available on ebay at 15% off RRP, free 500GB SSD via redemption + USD$25 steam credit. But I'm not sure if they're good deals given:

    • Threadripper 3000 motherboards will cost similar (>$400) with much more PCIe lanes.
    • You can't really OC Ryzen 3000 CPUs much regardless of how good the motherboard (VRM) is. They've reached their limitation on default settings.

Except when you want to break some records, they can:

        LN2… not for daily use I guess…

        • Was just joking with ya mate.
You are right though, Ryzen PBO does a really good job already, manual OC on air/liquid only yields like ~100Mhz higher which is most likely not worth the extra effort, heat and consumption.
Those boards are like for 0.1% of use cases.

    • Threadripper 3000 motherboards will cost similar (>$400) with much more PCIe lanes.

Have fun finding a Threadripper CPU for under $600.

    • I was actually looking at the MEG Ace as well which comes out at about $500 with the SSD/Steam credit, but given this is substantially cheaper, is there any significant reason to go with the more expensive board given there's limited OC potential?

For me, I plan to build with a 3700x and 2080 or 2080Ti… I don't have fancy ethernet at home (just a Google Wifi Gigabit ethernet) and the real drawcard to me was the ability to have 3 m.2 drives (since I already have 2 but will want to be able to add one more in the future), but this hardly seems like a good way to spend $200 difference!

  • whats a good value video card to pair with this board?

    • +1

      1660ti or Radeon 5700

  • MSI T&C state that even after writing reviews the SSD is a lucky draw. Seems to indicate the same for the Steam voucher.
    Are the SSD's guaranteed?

    • WD Blue and steam credit is for every purchase. There two two models of ssd, two different promotions

  • In terms of this compared to a tomahawk max? Worth it?

    • You can sell the ssd and/or steam credit on ebay if you don't need them, the final cost would be about the same as tomahawk max + 11ac wifi adapter. So I guess this newer model is a better option (at least higher ram frequency support + pcie 4.0).

  • I was about to buy a regular b450 tomahawk for my Ryzen 7 2700, RX 580, 16 GB DDR4 3000 machine.
This looks like an even better option for an extra $100.
Hmm but I don’t think I really need it lol!

    • go with b450 mortar max :) 2x m.2

      • Hard to find stock of those. Why do you suggest this one btw other than the 2x m.2? Thanks in advance.

Edit: ahh I see these have just been released. Mortar max and Tomahawk max look really good actually especially if they RRP at a similar price to current models. Hmm maybe that’s the better option - mortar max for $160ish or tomahawk max for $180ish

        • Similar VRM and $30 cheaper, they are both more than good enough for OC 2700 (or even OC 3900X), unless more PCIe slots are needed, mortar is better for most people given a second M.2 SSD is the most likely to add, compares to other pcie cards, in long run (say 3~6 years).

  • Seems like they're sold out. Can anyone see this deal anywhere else?

    • Computer alliance has it. Comes to $288 with the discount.
