This is a great, underrated old game, beautiful fantasy world, cool loots, huge game 30-50 hours from memory if you get most of it done, so good.

Sounds better than "From the guy who brought you the bloody sock incident" which this game is, true story. Fascinating back story to the funding and dev of this game which was an expensive and spectacular failure. Some of the huge debts were paid by auctioning off founder Schilling's famous bloody sock.

If you enjoyed the art style of Fable you'll find it easy to get into. A little dated nowadays in terms of voice acting I thought but for the content you get compared to the price it's an absolute steal.
Don't be afraid to slide that diffficulty up a bit either.

  • Nice game. Very sorry to hear 38 studio had to disband because of pirated games.

Nooo, they were funded by state tax concessions and loan guarantees and a massively expensive dev that could never succeed unless it was a AAA smash hit. I think they were already bankrupt on release or very close. Founder was selling assets in a big auction. This game was one of the most expensive devs by a more or less startup in history….using money the state of Rhode Island secured. They had to sell 3 million full price copies to break even.

      • weren't they moving the money towards their mmo that they were making? there's no way this game cost $60m+

  • This isn't necessarily a recommendation or discouragement, but this game felt very much like a single player MMO to me.

    • Development started out that way and they switched to a single player title I recall.

      • That makes perfect sense actually.

  • Lazy EA should've put this in the vault long ago.
