  • Wanting to change my 2 10,000mah xiaomi with dual outputs to one with type c input for charging to reduce cable clutter, any recommendations? Don't need the huge capacity of these, would prefer the more compact size.

    • +3

Power Banks with usb type c start around $20$-$30 if your lucky with brands such as Kogan entering with decent products such as

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/464349 great buy when on sale or delivered below $30, then there is the larger

      capacity/size/weight https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-20000mah-18w-textured-pow… these are usb c PD 18w both ways and QC3 output 18w.

For something a bit different, especially if your a Samsung owner you could have one of these always charged and ready to go, but usb c in/charging battery itself only and fast charge single 2.4A usb A out only ( still only need to carry one cable if using 240v adapter with usb a out ). https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/samsung-5100mah-fast-charge-bat…

This one is great but bigger and weighty with 20000mAh but loads of features https://www.amazon.com.au/ROMOSS-20000mAh-Portable-External-…

I can go on and up in price as most are over $40-$50 but that gives you a start.

      • Excellent, thanks. Am a Samsung user too

        • Got one as gift for mum as she uses Samsung and was impressed with build/form factor and light weight, seems to work well too. Was impressed for the price so got one for myself ( non Samsung user but still good lol ).

These were around $50 elsewhere, so good buy. Make sure to fully charge before use as both were flat at first.

Having two smaller ones like this is often better than one big/heavy one, alternate and keep charged up.

          • @ozhunter68: I'm liking the Amazon one now, looks impressive.

            • @scuderiarmani: I'm a fan of powerbanks and have been using them for years building up a good collection, and yes being an OzBargainer I pulled the trigger on the Rommos one and really like it's various display readouts ( yes I'm a bit of a geek lol ).

When it's fairly full, can even partially charge a small 11.6" laptop via usb C PD @ 12V, was not expecting that and impressed.

Just as well as it is bit heavy, good for backpack or home use.

@ozhunter68: Do they have higher end versions of the Romnos one? Particularly that could fast charge later Samsung phones? Currently using Note 8… Is the type c both input and output??? Reading Amazon it's suggesting so.

                • +1

@scuderiarmani: I'll answer your easy question first regarding charging usb c both ways and answer is YES, @ up to 18w each way using correct capable charger with correct Amp and Volts.

Be Aware that this model Rommos does NOT fast charge the newer Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+/Note 8/S9/S9+/S10 etc. as it does not support that Samsung protocol, that's what I remember reading here on posts for that model.

Rommos also makes a 30000mAh version, but would not call it better, more capacity. I am not really sure if they make other models that support the newer Samsung protocol or higher Amp PD outputs, maybe google their full range from a decent website.

I usually buy power banks after reading from deals here on OzBargain, that way I find out some info and feed back, oh….and great prices too. I have far too many already as it is now haha.

@ozhunter68: It's a shame it checks every box otherwise, I'll keep am eye on them though, I may shift to a ROG phone so that in itself could bring more hassle.

Much appreciated everything you've said though :)

  • Doesn't have USB power delivery.

  • looking for something with T3. Hopefully a deal comes along soon.

  • Damn no Usb C.

    www.anker.com really ? Lol

  • Not bad but missing a lot of features over other similar power bricks

    • People who buy these types of Anker Power Banks are after reliability and safety hoping that the Anker will deliver.

    • That looks compact although thick. Just keep in mind input 2.1A max and output 2.1A max for the usb c and one of the usb a ports, 1A max for other usb a port, not sure what the total output could be, although adding up figures no more than 5.2A max.

In the world of PD and QC2/3 these figures above are a bit low, still looks like a decent power bank, but I would prefer the white 20000mAh Rommos I linked above, just prefer that one in black lol.

This one from kogan is $29 + $7 Delivery: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-20000mah-18w-textured-pow…

    • Looks good for $29 now that their 10000mAh PD version went back up also to $29 ( black one now also textured similar to this 20000mAh ), unless you need it now wait for free delivery deal from Kogan.

I'll be tempted too by this one when it's delivery free for $29.
