I have a pair of these from last sale, good looking nice boot, different texture than most shoes

  • Bugger, had a pair in cart but was out of stock when I went to check out

  • Only size 12 left.

  • Nearly jumped, but reviews aren't great. Experiences with these, anyone?

I think you'll find the bad reviews are based on the service, not the shoes.

      • The first review is hilarious though:

Time poor. So I ordered online. They arrived within 3 days, however… UNBELIEVABLE! Two different shoes!

        How does that even happen?!

        • Yep. That and people being sent used/faulty shoes. Remember: you've usually got to have a reason to contact customer service - before you find out if it's good or bad - and there seem to be a lot of reasons…

@MattyD: Bought for 3 times. No issues for the shipping. Only have one issue for refund due to the size. It took over 1.5 month for the refund (I had to ring the store 3 times although the staff from the store was very nice to resolve the issue).
Eventually I realized online shopping is nothing to do with any stores. Online-communication is not very good. No phone numbers but only email.)

  • As far as boots go, take any claim of breathability along with waterproofing with a grain of salt. Even the best struggle.

    • Timberlands are very good like that. Waterproof and never sweaty inside in my experience. YMMV

    • Boots with a goretex lining tend to be breathable and waterproof

      • Plenty of reviews I've read on a range of good walking boots suggest otherwise. I have two different makes of "waterproof" boots. Older pair (Karrimor, suede upper with a breathable layer) definitely isn't waterproof but oddly is also a little sweaty in summer. Salomon Ultras I haven't yet tested with immersion but they also leave the socks a little muggy after a long walk in warm conditions. My feet don't sweat in breathable (and definitely not water-resistant) runners.

        • Interesting because I've read a lot of positive feedback on gore tex. My personal experiences have also been positive. I've owned 3 different pairs of Bates boots with gore tex lining and they were all waterproof, yet breathable

I have a few Palladium boots, and they're awesome for travelling!

I've walked everywhere with them, hiking, off road, sight seeing, dirt tracks etc and the sole is great. Highly recommend for travelling!!
