Why Is Auspost So Slow Comparing to INTL USPS?

This is a Rant and I am amazed at how fast USPS is, I have two parcels, similar sizes and weight,
one is coming from

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA 95742 USA and the other from just Melbourne Victoria.
The USPS in sent via First class International shipping costing $18, not even top of the line shipping, then the AusPost was sent with just Parcel Post

(Includes business days and weekends)

Both has been in tracking for 8 Days from creating shipping label, the USPS parcel arrived today and funny enough their comprehensive tracking STOPPED as soon as it landed in Australia, before that it was getting tracked every city it went through, here it just said

"Processed Through Facility AUSTRALIA " (This is AusPost now)

Now the AusPost parcel 8 Days from Melbourne Victoria, After 8 days its still there, has not moved, after 8 DAYS…

why?

Need to get that off me, cheers.

    I have to parcels

Do you really have to? Fine, just squat behind those bushes and wipe with a bunch of leaves.

    • Hahaha fixed it

    1. Aus post tracking is notoriously crap, could be on its way. My Amazon deliveries have arriving/delivery updates the day after item delivered.

    2. Seller is waiting for drop shipping order to arrive and hasn't actually sent anything yet, just registered on auspost.

  • This started happening coinciding with the reduction of overnight sorting. They started putting regular packages in bins to be sorted later and just do the express urgently. Packages seem to be able to arrive out of order since they did this to cut overtime costs.

  • Sucks for you, Chullora sorts my mail real quick. Overnight parcel post metrowide most of the time, it just sounds like bad luck and tired workers to me. My parcel posts are usually not scanned much until they're onboard for delivery and it can be worse if they're dropped in a street box and not over the counter.

One is a private entity owned by the government but not run by it, the other is government owned and run, you figure it out.

  • Welcome to down Under! Country with beautiful beach and lay back people

    • When you can't get fired and working at Maccas gets you almost the same pay as graduate jobs, why not?

It's best to lie back and think of England when you are waiting for Australia Post to come.

    • Crumpets are a well known sedative.

  • Only 8 days? geez your lucky

Here in WA… W.A means "wait awhile"

Normal snail mail letter birthday card etc can take up to 13 working days[that is WORKING days]to get to Perth metro from over east…from some capitals.

"over east" means anywhere east of WA border… south australia is "over east"

You are lucky… 8 days is blindingly fast compared to what we get.

  • What is the current status of the AusPost delivery? Most likely it has not been received by AusPost in the first place.

  • USPS are totally unreliable.
We bring in at least one package a week and delivery time can take anything from 7 - 21 days - and that can be from the same sending location.
Our business sends 15 - 20 packages a week by AusPost and 99%+ get delivered withing the indicated delivery times.

    • …AusPost and 99%+ get delivered withing the indicated delivery times.

that may be true, except Auspost's "indicated delivery times" between two main cities is the same as another carrier's time for an overseas parcel!

They could probably make that stat 100% if they upped their service standard to 30 days! (this is actually what they did, although the 30 day figure is an exaggeration on my part!)

  • yes they are pretty bad. Three days for an item to travel a couple of suburbs in Canberra - unbelievable! Canberra is a piss ant of city and traffic is bugger all. What the?

Oh and a redirect to a parcel locker which is 300 metres from my apartment took 2 days!
