  • A great piece of tech, hopefully the have fixed some of the reliability issues they've had in their past few models.

Is it still legal to run these things on total fireban days?

I play mine in a meat coolroom at the butcher's.

    Thanks OP bought 10

    No Omen, no deal.

  • the razer blade stealth has been an absolute workhorse for me…

no issues so far (apart from the occasional mouse/pointer delay)

hooking it up to a RTX 2070 via razer core X as well.

256gb SSD for a $3500 laptop is crazy

      3500 for a laptop is crazy. :)

        How about $499?

      • Laughs in 15" macbook pro. Amateurs.

  • Where's the pricing error hurr durr.

    • +1

Im still hurting from the omen deal. Enough with these comments. Hehe.

I think dell G7 with better specs is only 2,700 after the discount. So not sure if this is a good deal.

But HP omen deal was good if only they honored it. :p

I wonder if anyone got their Omens?

    • They cancelled mine and offered the $3,400 system "for a heavily discounted price of" $3,099 "as a sign of good will".

But when i checked the website after a few days the exact same laptop was on sale for $2,999. They are not getting anymore business from me ever again! Unless there is another "pricing error" and the same laptop shows up as $1,600 again. Hehe

    Still a good $1000 overpriced.

    • You're not getting a gaming laptop with these specs for 2.5k. Unless it's the HP Omen.

  • +1

This laptop has come down to 3k on various ebay sales (I was heavily considering the RTX 2070 version but opted for ultrabook+epgu instead).

    • Doesn't the U processor bottle neck the eGPU?

      • I'll let you know when I receive the gear! I have an 8700k/1080ti in my desktop at home, this is just for when I'm travelling for work and want to play pubg :P

why razor products are all so overpriced?

    • Same deal as Dyson, Apple, Beats, Bose, etc.

Good marketing. And a willingness/preference for selling fewer units but at higher margins.

  • +2

This same laptop was $2700ish with cashback during Amazon Prime Day…. Not exactly a deal.

    • +1

Agreed. Hoping to see this dip to around 2-2.5k, then i might be enticed

  • Strix desktop tax, Razer tax, Alienware tax, Australia tax… it's getting harder to keep track of all the ludicrous margins.

Save yourself $700+ and take a look at the Gigabyte Aorus and ASUS Strix offerings with almost exactly the same specs, or upgrade to a 4k OLED screen for great HDR while gaming for about $200 more…

    No value here.

    • 4K gaming on a laptop, what are framerates going to be like?

      • On high settings with a few tweaks? Around 45-60 fps, then there's the option of upscaling techniques (DLSS, sharpening techniques).

It was more about the HDR reproduction than anything else. Like I said, this is way too much for the specs, to the point where top of the line hardware is about the same price.
