Decent price for these. Most other retailers have seemingly discontinued them, or are selling them for $99+.

Reviews say the headset is decent (for the price) however the microphone isn't perfect.

These are incredibly cheap headphones. The battery lasts a few hours, the plastic surrounds keep falling off, the padding is tearing and falling off after light use for 8 months. Also keep on mind the cups are shallow and don't swivel.

    • Thanks for the heads up was about to pull the trigger

Yep I bought them when they were on special for $89 8 months ago….. was a huge waste of $$$

    • I had the old version and barely used them. Looks like they don't work via bluetooth and require a usb dongle.

      • That's a big positive even though it seems archaic.

These are designed for gaming, not general use. The dongle helps keep audio latency very minimal. That said, the dongle is a benefit in other scenarios, you can use it on the Switch for example (docked) or any desktop/laptop that lacks dedicated Bluetooth (which might seem insane but budget PCs like the Dell optiplex that are popular bargains round here, often lack a Bluetooth chip).

I hope they continue releasing these in this form, as there is plenty of other products that fill the Bluetooth headset market in all price ranges.

I know everyone wants to go full wireless these days but you can't beat a good dongle for dedicated performance (yet). I still use a dongle mouse and keyboard, the response time is just a lot better than Bluetooth variants.

    • Yeah I've owned these for a few years and not used them much, but the padding is disintegrating. I am left with bits of black padding stuck to my head each time I use them. I initially liked the sound, the folding mechanism, and they look good, but I don't recommend them.

These are last gen models, with many headband cracking complaints.

Can confirm my headband cracked and the padding is tearing up. I actually thought someone had accidentally stepped on my headset. Guess I know now

Yep had these as well, the hinges are poorly made, otherwise not a bad headset for this price but you'll be replacing them within the year.

  • Sorry bit off topic - I was actually looking into the Pulse Elite just recently, is there any new equivalent model from Sony or 3rd party? That "bassimpact" function really intrigues me…

  • Bought these a few years ago and barely used them - went to use them not so long ago and noticed my ears and side of my head were covered in dots of black.

After checking the headset, I noticed whatever cheap material was used on the padding just completely disintegrates over time, irrespective of how much they're used.

    I wouldn't pay $56 for them unless they were a stop-gap solution and you'd $56 to burn.

I've had a set for about 2-3 years now. Paid full price.

Yes, the ear pads material started to disintegrate but i fixed this with some cheap replacements for like $8 off aliexpress.

My headband also split unexpectedly but some plastics glue from coles fixed that too and the are going strong again.

For this price I'd say it's a bargain for what you get.
I've paid the same full price or more for other brands that haven't lasted as long or weren't as easily fixed.

I'm basically on your boat. Bought mine early 2017 and it has been a super reliable headset. Battery life is still exceptional and the leather ear cups are easily replaceable. Both of the hinges of mine gave up a few months back, but some super glue and duct tape has solved the problem perfectly. Audio quality is very good for the price, works well with both PS4 and PC. The 3.5mm connection is also really useful for Xbox One or mobile devices.

I paid around $75 when I got them and is by far the most reliable and valuable one I've ever owned.

This. At least the pads are replaceable. Do a bit of legwork and keep the product alive. If the electronics still work it is worth it.

  • Man a lot of complaints here about this headset. Is there a highly recommended good value headset for the ps4? Or gaming in general?

  • I use it on PC, the audio is great and people say the mic is crystal clear, but yeah, the quality of the plastic is not ideal.

  • Owned 2 pairs. Don't expect more than a year or two out of them. Sound is good for the price. They only problem is the build materials. The cups as stated will degenerate and leave you with bits of black crap on and in yours ears. And they will snap at some point too. Avoid.

  • I've used a pair of these for PC gaming and people have said my voice is quite clear. I also use these with my Nintendo Switch (while docked). And they work great.

  • I just replaced my set of these that I had for around 5-6 years. I really liked the sound and mic, but by this year I'd had to repair both hinges, the cups were peeling and a split formed at the top of the band. Was pleased to find that they'd been superceded by the updated Gold headset.

  • This is the old version. I have one of these. It's so uncomfortable I can't use it.

    Didn't sound good either.

But I have been spoiled by having much better equipment.
