Ha-ha yes, it's what you shout when it breaks- FFS, F Falcon and their crap TV's

      • "Well this is just F-Fscken F-Fantastic, the F-F F-Falcon has F-Fscked up again, FFs!"

  • are they really crap?

    • The colours are bearable but the stuttering drives you up the wall.

Friend purchased one of these and for the price, they're actually quite decent.
Navigating the menu is sluggish but once you're watching something, its fine.

Don't expect a high-end TV but these are better than Soniq IMO.
As for how long these will last before you encounter issues: I can't comment

    • Whats the pic quality like and would this be ok as a dumb tv?

      sound quality ok?

      • Picture quality looks fine and motion is good too.
Sound is eh but for TV speakers, not terrible.

Take a USB with a sample video into JBHIFI and try it out

  • Hey team, would you guys recommend this or the Aldi TV? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/476916

    • Well, it's hard to really know without either seeing both of them side by side or even relative comparative reviews, however, the FFalcon is supposedly a direct-lit panel which seeing as it would be a cheaper model is probably a good thing as it wouldn't have any sort of local dimming, so in that instance being direct-lid versus edge-lit means that in a cheaper model it would hopefully a more uniform backlight, but again without actually testing one, it's hard to know. I don't know about the Aldi model?

The Aldi would likely have a better returns policy, potentially? 60 days change of mind? JB HiFi are usually pretty good with returns, but it's something that you'd want to discuss with them prior to purchase I'd have thought.

If it were me, and I absolutely had to choose one, based on the info I have I'd probably go for the Ffalcon, which is supposedly made by TCL for JB HiFi.

      • Jawanzar sir, many thanks for your detailed response. I think I will go with The FFalcon. Reviews are looking good and its bigger. Thanks a ton :)

      • Where did you read this was a TCL built tv? If this was a TCL rebadged known model (and I could check reviews, for what they are worth) I might consider it but maybe JBHiFi had it built to a price with lower spec components?

  • How does one know if this has ARC?

    • Ring JB Hifi I suppose. But really? Wouldn't you be better off looking at a different TV?

      • Yeah, smart thinking. Will do!

  • Take the HDR claim with a grain of salt

    • Most entry level TV's can't display HDR properly. Including the big brands.

  • Got one of these today to replace a 12 year old 40 inch Samsung 720p that was failing (bad artifacting on images)

Mounted it on the wall and set it up to discover a vertical thin purple line on display.
Phoned JB to find out the DOA policy and while I was waiting on the phone it dissapeared!

Been Ok since. JB guy said if it appears again they will replace.

This is a TCL sub brand
warranty card says FFALCON by TCL Electronics Australia Pty Ltd
Inside the remote is stamped TCL Global Manufacturing.

    ARC is on HDMI 3

Will see how it goes, for $400 thought it was worth a punt

    • Great going. Hope it serves you well.

    • How did you hook up your ARC connection mate? I tried connecting to HDMI 3 port to the ARC port on my Yamaha receiver and done all the correct settings on the receiver but can’t get any functionality. It’s like the tv doesn’t have any options to allow sound via external speakers, unless I use the optical cable. It’s just handier having ARC hooked up so you can control volume from the 1 remote. Unless my hdmi cable isn’t ARC compatible? I’ve read you require the correct cable

  • Got one today. Not too bad! Thanks op.

  • Does anyone know anything about their "dead pixel" policy (if any)?
Sent an email yesterday - no response so far.

  • This is back today, September 15, 1 day only.
