Kopparberg Varieties 330ml $34.90 Per 24 Slab @ Dan Murphy's (Free Membership Required)

720

Spotted this shopping for some ciders. Imo Kopparberg is the benchmark of a good cider. Calculating on my calculmalators it comes to ~$1.45 per bottle. Usually $42.99.

Also available is the pear slab

And the surprisingly tasty naked lower carb apple slab

Here is a little video review of kopparberg pear cider (or perry).

Enjoy!

Is the lower carb any good? They are usually bland as all hell but kopparberg is generally a bit sweet.

Not as sweet as Somersby, from memory, but still too sweet for me.

Been many years since I had kopparberg, but I'm pretty sure it's sweeter than somersby? Closer to rekorderlig than somersby I thought.

    Too much sugar

  • Yea I got these the other day in Qld - cost $38 ctn.

  • Is this just alcoholic cordial?

    • +3

Sure is, made from concentrate, sickly sweet. Not a real cider.

      • Are there any ciders on the dry side of the scale that are made with real fruit and available in chain bottle shops?

I like my cider dry and tart but everything available nowadays seems to be on the medium/sweet end of the spectrum.

google Henry of Harcourts. Made with real apples from different varieties. Or make your own cider as it is very easy to do.

          • @Third_Gear: Thanks, although I'm guessing it's not available in places like DM / BWS etc

Good cider isn't hard to find but none of the bigger stores seem to stock any varieties that I enjoy.

Recently I've been drinking 3 Sons which is a small cider maker in Canberra. They also advertise a cider making course on their website which I'd be keen to do at some stage.

Mercury cider do a dry cider but it's hard to find in a dans. Their draught cider isn't too sweet and is 5.2%. The hard cider is really sweet though and stronger

          • @Damannation: Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for the dry and might pick up a can to try.

I can't say that I've been overly impressed with Mercury's other offerings though.

I really enjoy Barossa Cider Co. Squashed Apple Cider, which is available at Dan's.

For anyone that does buy it, check the expiry date. We bought 2 Koppaberg packs they had an offer on a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice that one had expired 7 months earlier.

    $37.90 in SA

    • I thought that was the case in WA too but you just need to set which store and the price will drop to $34.90

  • Not the same price at all, but I've found Young Henry's cider to be the best you can get pretty much.

  • It was $38 until i went to check out then it came down to $35.
    Bought low carb 24 pack.

  • My fav is Kirin Premium Cider but DM no longer stocks them.
