Do you need to be an ebay plus member?

    • Looks like it!
      Post updated.

  • this or the new bose? this should be the standard price for this headphone now

    Sony XM3 all the way.

  • From the other recent threads, I just googled the call quality of XM3, and it seems there's evidence of problems.

Can anyone please provide feedback on the call quality of this (XM3) vs the Bose 700?

If the price is not a concern; to me, 300 or 500 is a small difference when a product is problematic for one of its features.

PS. I own a QC35, occasionally get calls while using it, and it's frustrating. Thus the consideration of XM3/700. Thank you.

I have XM3. I would say mic quality isn't great. Its average. I bought a cable with mic (similar to https://www.catch.com.au/product/grey-audio-cable-w-remoteta…) and it works great.

IMO QC35 mic is better than xm3, but Xm3 sounds heaps better (open, clear, bass and engaging) compared to Qc35 or even the new bose 700

      • Silly question time … Do you plug that mic cable in to just your phone, just the headphones, or both??

I've seen similar reviews for the XM3 saying Bose for call voice quality, XM3 for sound quality. Hadn't heard of adding a separate mic somewhere to address that.

Mate, one side of the cable would go to phone and the other side to headphone, equal to a wired headphone. This is just as a handy backup for a very noicey environment or if you are drained out of battery (battery drainout would be highly unlikely to happen as 10 min charge gives you five hours of playback and 100% charging would give you 30 hrs). Headphone comes with a similar cable, but unfortunately it has no mic inbuilt in it.

    • If mic quality is a big concern, definitely Bose 700, the mic is leagues better. XM3 mic is pretty terrible from what people I've called have told me.

      • You are right. Fot regular calls XM3 looks fine, but mor eproblematic when with Whatsapp calls in melbourne (old) trams. I still can live with it for personal calls, but for official calls it may sound tad unprofessional. Though I got a cable with mic, I hardly use it. If your main purpose is portable audio, IMO XM3 all the way above QC35 and new 700

I originally returned QC35 and bought XM3 and pretty happy with it !

  • Thanks mate - been waiting on a good price on these for a little while now. Signed up to the free 30 day trial of eBay plus and got a pair.

  • Damn, missed out.

      Price has been jacked :(

      • What was the price before discount before it was re-stocked? It's now $395 before discount (which appears to be the retail everywhere) and discounts to $335.75. Still a decent price.

        • 379 according to the sale history

  • Thanks, ordered one at $335.75 (discounted from $395) just now.

  • Hey all, would this deal be price matched by officeworks? Or no because the PANTHER deal is considered a "coupon"?

  • Sydney here (work CBD, live inner west) - I am going to see if Sony will price match these on their website - I have the AMEX offer (spend 500, get 150 back) and wanted to see if anyone will go halves with me, if I can get them from Sony for this price - works out to be 260 each.

    • Hi LongMemory82, I work in Sydney, wynard. I will be interested to pair up with you for sony headphones, if it's ok with you.

      • Hey mate - i just had a work colleague say he will go in with me! Im sorry!

        • No worries. Thanks for the update. 😀

    • i am in Sydney, happy to share with you if you can get it

    • can you update here if you successfully done the price match with Sony?

      • I would assume it wont be honoured as under theirvprice matching criteria it lists:

        Exclusions:

        -Cashback, credit card/payment method rebates and coupon offers (eg: cashback or reduced price requiring a coupon or electronic codewords);

Since u have to use a coupon i think its game over..

      • I've put in a price match just over 48 hours ago (says 24-48 hours once you submit) - no response yet.
I rang Sony and they advised to wait a bit longer. (not sure I can trust that)

        • +1

Sony customer service can be terrible - I am still waiting on a response from them. I rang again and they said to keep waiting (its been 4.5 days) - i said your website says 48 hours for a response they said we are busy at the moment so haven't got to it yet but its in the queue.
