How crap is eBay these days, no mention of what sellers or what items. As if have seen in the past sometimes the code is not displayed or does not work.

Why don't the sellers just reduce the price of those selected items by 15%, why the complexity?

    • +1

      agreed

    • +7

      Advertising hype.

    • +1

You might want to understand this is ebay method to lure you in buying on the platform? Its actually ebay coughing out the 15% to tide seller over. Ebay/paypal actually charge seller close to 15%, if seller reduce another 15% they would rather eat dirt. :)

      • Given everyone jacks up prices, not really. eBay will get their 10% (so effectively they don't make a buck on that sale) and the seller increases their price by 5%.

    • the idea is to get you to check every item one by one.

  • +8

Works on heaps of listings I've tried, including sellers such as TGG, Microsoft, EB Games, Bing Lee. Seems to apply to heaps of listings, even if they're not eBay plus.

    • +1

Yes , think the idea is people look at sellers to see if included, gives eBay better stats on what people are browsing …

Same reason you need to turn on location services to check Macca's rewards for pewney $1 has browns … ….all about info collection

      • +1

are you implying we should get a 1000 people to search for knitting needles just to play with their heads?

        • done

        • I actually would search for knitting needles! Those interchangeable sets ain't cheap.

    • Can't seem to find the terms and conditions regarding eligible items.

I just assumed the code applied to everything on eBay except for the following items: Cars, Bikes, Boats, Coins, Gift Cards, Other Lots More Items, Real Estate, Services, Tickets, Travel, as well as a few Sellers (e.g. Officeworks, Target, Fantastic Furniture.

      Am I right?

      • +2

Pretty much yes, from what I can tell from past promos, eligible items include items from approx 15,000 Australian Sellers and have the exclusions you've noted. It's pretty annoying with the new system though how you need to check on the item listing to find eligibility, wish it was just sitewide with exclusions lol.

    • -1

Another problem is the limited range sellers offer.

    • Is there any way to check if this applies to items without having Ebay plus? Considering a few big dollar buys, but don't want to pay to sign up if items aren't included (already used trial)

    • Microsoft store doesn't work for me… is it working for anyone else?

  • Which sellers?

    • +3

      Secret sellers

    • +4

The idea is to go shopping on Ebay, picking what you want… in the HOPE that your item is part of the eligible items/sellers list.
Ebay's goto marketing tactic these days.

Of course it won't be, but that's the point. "Selected sellers" Ebay sales are very rarely worth it. So I don't even bother anymore.

      • +1

Amazon is my new go to place for mostthings. But it's the sale waiting game as they come on sale secretly unless you track it or are watching it closely.

      • Same.

From past 'eligible' item promos, the things I want are not eligible, and now I find it a total waste of time to manually check.

  • Wish they would just list what stores are included

    • +10

But that would be considered improving the user experience.

      • well we can't have that now can we

    • +1

Isn't it all "ebay plus" sellers?

  • FML bought something last night with the PATPAT code saving me $20, this one would have saved me $60
    Always happens to me 😄

    • contact seller to cancel ?

      • Yeah I have done but don't loke my chances. See how I go I suppose.

        • i bought something this morning using PANTSUIT (10%) just contacted seller and they agree to refund me, then i used 15% code to buy the same item. i think i save another $20

          • @SS625: Yeah seller refunded and repurchased straight away. Saved me another $40. They get their money all the same so didnt have to cancel but would definately use them again.

  • +2

Oooh, perfect timing. Just nabbed another Synology 918+ NAS for an OK price ($627.30) here Not enough stock to create a full deal tho. Cheers OP!

EDIT: Yes! More stock just added. Might create a deal now :)

  • +1

    Got a Nikon Z 35mm for $1,121. Thanks OP.

  • +5

What should I waste my money on? Help me out here people.

    • Give it to me.

      • Aight, how do you want it? Missionary? Doggie? Bedroom, kitchen, car?

        • Is that how you pay for things at a checkout? Interesting.

          • @Trishool: It’s the world’s oldest profession for a reason!

  • Does it apply to any ryzen 3700x listings or x570 motherboards? Not currently a plus member, but will join if so

    • You can use my account if you are in Brisbane/sunshine coast. So crap if you have to pay 50 for getting a discount

    • can't you just use the free trial?

    • I can see one 3700x listing which gets it down to 490

  • +1

nice, ryzen 3600 for 284 delivered!

  • any iphone xr??

    • +1

Why would you buy an xr now? Just wait until next month and buy the new model for the same price.

      • +1

travelling soon so need it to claim tax…..

      • do you think it's worht the wait?

        • For me it's worth the wait as it's only 1 month. The rumours are that it's not going to be a major change. Most probably a camera upgrade and maybe a faster processor. Hoping for USB C but no guarantees. Will have to wait til 2020 for major upgrades.

  • Just cancelled a couple orders I made, put them all together and reordered with the 15% off code! Thanks :)

  • +2

Computer alliance seems to be eligible!

    • Oh boy, RIP my bank balance

  • +1

    Any Xbox One X?

  • +4

I let my eBay Plus run out last month, don't think I'll be renewing again until eBay stops with the eligible items only bullshit. I'd rather 10% off sitewide for Ebay Plus members than some stupid eligible crap.

    • Yeah 10% sitewide was better… I remember the days when we laughed at it =/

    • +1

I have a lot of stuff saved up in my wish list for a sitewide. Hasn't happened. So I haven't bought anything from ebay in a very long time. And I probably won't unless it's something I absolutely need.

  • Awesome, picked up a RTX 2060 for under $480, just what I was waiting for.

    • sorry man

  • -1

ah crap.. just ordered but forgot to use my 20 dollar voucher… oh well… use it next time. had 150 bucks in cart waiting for this.

  • +1

ozplaza not eligible..have few things in my watchlist.

  • Wireless1 included here? Or computeralliance?

    • +3

      Yes both of them are.

  • there is a bunch of 5700 XT's for $577

  • Isn't this just a marketing campaign to promote ebay plus? It's good that some can profit by it at the cost of ebay, not the sellers or buyers. But I see this as ebay trying to promote ebay plus.

    2x 8gb ballistix sports LT 3000mhz (micron e-die highly overclockable ram) $124 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crucial-Ballistix-Sport-LT-16GB-…

    • I've been waiting for a code that applies to one of the (very few) listing for 32GB Kit (2x16GB) of 3200Mhz Sports LT

      Time to check them

Yep $248.31 for the Mwave listing. Cheapest I've seen this kit in Aus in the past few weeks https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crucial-Ballistix-Sport-LT-32GB-…

    • Good Ram, mine maxed at 3733 (due to my cpu's infinity fabric I think) but ended up with 3600 cl16 at much lower voltage.

  • +1

had the same ebay account for 10 years. Can you just create a new one and do an ebay plus trial to get deal?

  • +2
  • I'll grab the $577 5700xt. Which is the preffered card? msi or asrock?

Anyone seen a 2070 super deal?

    • +1

i pulled the trigger on a asrock 5700 xt last night for $599. rip.

cards are 100% identical. MSI might deal with warranty better than asrock, so go the MSI.

never seen a 2070 super under $800. not worth it at the moment

    • I think they are all made by sapphire just with different stickers on them, i'm waiting for the AIB models still, they should be released any day now.

  • Was hoping for a decent deal on a shield tv, but damn, those things just don't seem to drop in price.

  • +1

How exciting. Another deal that wastes our time trying to find sellers with the code. (Blah). 😛

Hey ozbargain moderators/people managing this site, how about setting up an option in the deals section where people can list sellers with the discount as they find them?

It would save a lot of time for buyers who have to go and test out each one of the sellers they want to buy from.

  • I Assume this work on oversea listings?

  • looking for Samsung 65-75" deals….

  • being waiting so long for this..now need to clear the cart missus created.lol

  • Any idea when this one expires? Couldn't see any dates in T&C's

Hopefully it lasts long enough for my eBay gift cards from AusPost to arrive

    • +1

22 August 2018. Listed in the post.

      • hah of course I missed that! cheers mate

      • +1

        2018 was last year??

  • Any Xbox One X deals. I'm itching over here! Don't make me pay RRP :(

    • Same; makes me wonder if the Amazon Prime Day price was bad at all

  • +3

Just picked up an MSI RTX 2070 for $675.75 after the discount. Good price IMO.

  • Philips Airfryer Avance XXL HD9651/91 - $360 after discount (+$50 cashback) at Bing Lee Ebay.

  • +2

    Adds items to cart.
"This code can't be applied to your order."
    Removes items from cart….

  • doesn't have ebay plus anymore actually save my money. i can't buy from this sale

  • Hmm, the good guys look like they're part of this sale. I'm looking for a 10 inch Lenovo smart display. This brings it to about $237…I think I'll wait.

  • Stack this with Cashrewards 5% cashback on gift cards at Australia Post.

    • IF they arrive before the expiry

      • What do u mean, its not instant email?

        • +1

Nope, post (regular or registered letter AusPost I would imagine)

          • @shawnsmaggot: Yeah you are right, which is silly but oh well. Auspost themself delivers it so it will surely be quick.

  • Lame, the one thing I actually want never seems to eligible for any code except a miserable 3% off.

  • Logitech G Pro Wireless mouse is available at Computer Alliance for $169.15

Shame I spent $600 on ebay two days ago and used a code to save $50 but could have saved $90 with this deal, such is the burden of being an OzBargainer.

  • Any 3900X deals?

  • Can't seem to find the terms and conditions regarding eligible items.

I just assumed the code applied to everything on eBay except for the following items: Cars, Bikes, Boats, Coins, Gift Cards, Other Lots More Items, Real Estate, Services, Tickets, Travel, as well as a few Sellers (e.g. Officeworks, Target, Fantastic Furniture.
