  • Only for new subscribers?

    • Yes - I just tried it and page refreshed to the default price.

OP why would you edit the title and add 'Inactive Accounts' AFTER I posted my earlier comment above that it doesn't work for inactive accounts?

        • +2

Worked for me on an inactive account. $2 for ultimate until October.

        • +1

Worked on my inactive account just now

        • It won't work on my inactive account, it says $15.95 / month. My sub only expired yesterday though, so maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

          • +1

@hambeet: May not work if you've already used a similar deal? Eg. Renewed an inactive already.

            • @ryang: Hmm maybe? I've used a few of the deals from time to time, but I thought most of us would fall into that boat :)

              • +2

@hambeet: Yep, well mine expired yesterday and I can't get this one.. But the last thing I bought was the $1 ultimate deal.. 😂

  • $15/month for me.

  • Seems confusing to me, says two months for $2, but then says $2 for the first month and $15.95 every month after that. Is it 2 months or only 1 month

    2 months for $2
AU$2.00 including tax for the first month
AU$15.95 including tax every month after that
By selecting Subscribe, you agree to the Store terms of sale. We'll charge you AU$2.00 including tax for the first month and AU$15.95 including tax every month after that. You'll be notified before any future price changes. Cancel any time. Learn more.

  • I signed up thinking it was 2 months for $2. I turned off recurring billing so ill be annoyed if i get charged $15.95 for the 2nd month

    • Are you able to go to your subscriptions and check the expiry date of your GamePass Ultimate? Once you turned off recurring billing, it should tell you the expiry date. With that info, we can figure out whether it is really 2 months or just 1 month.

i.e. https://account.microsoft.com/services/, under XBox Game Pass Ultimate, it should states Expires on ??/??/????.

One OZBer has reported he did get 2 months.

      • It says both gold and gamepass expire September 16

        • +1

I also tried the same for my daughter's account and that says gold and gamepass both expire October 17 so I'm not sure why I only got 1 month

          • @ConnorMcGregor: If you want, contact Microsoft support (you can use the online chat option). The XBox support staff are generally quite nice. They should be able to fix it by adding another month worth into your subscription.

I'm seeing "$2 for 2 months" (in writing) but it sounds like Microsoft not OP is the dodgy one here.

    • Check Pipersaurus's comment. He indicated he did get 2 months.

      • I can verify it works. I just subscribed today & my next payment will not be till 18 October 2019. thanks OP!!

  • My account is inactive and showing as $15/month for me.

    • After you login, go to the link posted by OP. i.e.: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/xbox-game-pass-ultimate/cf…

      • Tried that, still no difference. Says $15.95

        • Sign out, clear cookies on Microsoft.com, click on the link, you will see the link. Worked for me.

          • @123cheese: Didn't work for me, mate.

            • @Mr Lister: Didn‘t work on my chrome, worked on my MS Edge.

              • @123cheese: Tried it on Chrome, Edge and Firefox, none of them worked. Keep in mind I did the $1 first month when it started so would that be what's doing it? Never had an issue with these $1 for 1 month deals in the past.

                • @Mr Lister: Hmm. that could be the problem for ultimate? I tried more than three trials for xbox game pass and once for xbox game pass pc (beta) all worked, this is my first time trying ultimate.

        • I had a issue with chrome, i tried MS Edge and it worked

          • @BigglesKDH: I have tried clearing cookies and using Chrome, Edge, Opera. It reverts to $15.95 as soon as I'm logged in, even if I try to revisit again from the link above.

I'm guessing it's either because my account expired too recently (yesterday) or because it's related to me using the $1 deal last time that came up (June or July?). Glad it worked for some people though :)

  • +1

    no time

  • Darn missed the $1 for 3 months

  • What’s the usual price?

    • +1

      For Ultimate, $15.95pm.

  • +1

Love the conversion clause… Added another 12months of Xbox Live and then added the 2 months of Ultimate for $2 which upgraded my existing 6 months and also added an additional 14 months Ultimate for $81.95!

  • no recent good games to play waiting for gears 5

  • Wondering whether this deal can leads to following bigger deal or not.

When does this end? My subscription ends in 10 days!

  • can anyone advise me, I'm an inactive account and it shows me $2/2month. if I bought Xbox live gold game pass for 1 year from cdkeys, can I still get this $2 for 2 months and convert it to 14 months of game pass ultimate?

    thank you

  • I had an inactive Xbox Live Gold account, I was able to secure 2 months of Game Pass (w/ Xbox Live Gold) for $2. I turned off recurring billing (otherwise Microsoft charges your account $15.95/month). Therefore this $2 deal has given my account 2 months of Game Pass (until October 18th, 2019). I have verified it works, as I am currently downloading Castlevania Lords of Shadow (which was part of this months Games with Gold offering). Thanks OP!

  • I had an inactive account.

Could only get $1 for 1 month, with next billing 17/09 for $15.95.
It was advertised as $2 for 2 months, but changed as soon as I signed in. Dodgy.

Bait and switch from M$, BUT I'll take 1 month for $1 no worries.
Cancelled automatic billing 5 seconds later though.

  • I've got 2 X 30 day game pass unused codes and I can see this $2 for 2 months on my inactive account. What to do in which sequence to get the maximum period if everything utilized?

    • +2

If you want to take advantage now, then:

      • Claim the 2 x 30 days GamsPass vouchers.
      • If you purchased any eligible AMD product recently and you don't have an active GamePass for PC, claim the voucher provided by the promotion.
      • Any XBox Live Gold vouchers un-used, claim them.
      • Any Microsoft reward points you can convert to GP or XBLG vouchers, do that and claim them.
      • Any cheap XBLG or GP subscriptions you are willing to buy. Get them and claim.
      • With all that, then buy the $2 for 2 months and do the conversion. Do the conversion as soon as you claimed all the vouchers to maximise the 1:1 conversion.

If unsure, contact Microsoft XBox support team.

P.S. We can guess why Microsoft is doing this promotion now —> Gears 5 coming soon. Once again, a GamePass promotion when a new first party title is about to be released.

      • Thanks. Would the $2 for $2 remain if Game Pass vouchers are activated? It's for new/Inactive accounts only isn't it?

  • I ended up being able to get this to work through my xbox one itself, no amount of messing around got it to work from any browser.

  • I was previously on that $1 for 1 month trial. It expired over the weekend and I just tried this now.. and worked fine, I received my 2 months for $2 (although I didn't use the ozbargain link, I selected it directly from the xbox web site and selected "Join" after selecting the $2 option).

  • My Ultimate Subscription runs out in a couple of days. Can I let it run out and get this deal? or is it only for inactive accounts before this deal was active?

  • What classifies as an inactive account?

  • +2

Can I buy the 3 months game pass and then upgrade to ultimate via $2.00 offer?

IE: would be getting a 3rd month of ultimate for $4.95

    • I'm wondering this too. Technically it should be 5 months, but I'm wondering if the deal would stay at all if you get the 3 months one, because would that still mean your account is inactive or not?

    • +1

Were you able to do this? I was wondering the same thing for my brother's inactive account as I was able to add a month to my own account's Ultimate by adding a month trial of Game pass PC first.

$7 for 5 months seems good value and should be plenty of time for us to finish Gears.

      • I can't seem to see the 3 month deal anymore. Was waiting for Gears 5 before I subscribed but now it seems I missed it.

        • 3 months for $10.95?

It's still available, and you can use it multiple times - see the link in my comment below.

Once there, if you can't use the OP's link, scroll to the bottom of the comments and use the link I posted.

          • @BooYa: That's more than double the price of this deal which is 5 dollars for 3 months.

            • @ChillBro: I understand that, and that's gteat, but it's for new users only.

This deal is for everyone, and you can stack it indefinitely.

              Although, it may be targeted.

  • 12 months of Xbox Live Gold for $43.80 ($10.95 for three months × 4).

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/481996

    I bought 33 months worth.

  • Also, I converted Xbox Live Gold to Ultimate using this deal (now it's $1 for 1 month) and in my email confirmation I received it said that I have subscribed to Xbox Live Ultimate, and that my account would be charged $1 a month until notified in writing of a price change.

Has anyone checked their Xbox subscriptions page, after getting this deal, to see how much their recurring charge is scheduled to be (does it say that your next payment is going to be $1 per month or the normal price?).

I have turned off recurring billing so I don't know what it was before I turned it off, and all I see now is the option to turn it back on at around $15/month.

    Thanks.

  • Anyone know when this deal will end?

Hello, Brian here a fellow Xbox Gamer

Unfortunately, if you have already had the ultimate game pass you cannot get the 2 dollar deal, it is for new customers.

    Me:
    Not for inactive accounts?

    Brian:
    2146 Answers • 100% Helpful
    new subscribers only.

    OP's title is misleading.

    • He said if you had "ultimate" before you can't get the $2 deal.

Then, when he says "new subscribers only" is not clear either - does he mean new "ultimate" subscribers (which is how I understood him) or new "xbox live" subscribers?

So, while helpful, his answer doesn't clarify it completely, and many people will remain confused.

Ps. It's important to note he's not a Microsoft employee, but a volunteer, so I'd judge the reliability of his statements to be in the 95%-99% (based on his 100% positive record).

      • if you have already had the ultimate game pass you cannot get the 2 dollar deal, it is for new customers.

It's very clear to me that new customers = new subscribers (of XGP Ultimate).
Also if you check the comment section of this deal, many with an inactive XGP Ultimate account reported it's showing the regular price instead of $2 / 2 months.

        • That's what I thought too, but I wasn't sure.

I didn't read a lot of the comments either, because I have already topped up my XBLG to 3 years, but at $10.95 for 3 months.

I think the deal is still available but it's targeted
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/481996

This was obviously a better deal, but I wasn't aware of it tbh (I was just happy to top up 3 years at ~$3.70 per months plus Ultimate at a couple of dollars for one month and conversion to Ultimate).

I was just wondering if you could stack them, or if it was a one time purchase, but since it's expired now it's not really important.

          Thanks for the feedback.
