  Do yourself a favor if you want to learn a language: install anki for free and find a good vocabulary deck.

  Learn the words reading and definition only. Dont get hung up on whatever script they use.
  Do your reps every day, read a grammar guide everyday. And read native material every single day(start on stuff targeted at children).

  After a few years of that, you'll be somewhat competent.

    it does though… but it doesn't use the words in a sentences so i guess this app is more for learning the characters rather than learning the language.

      Mercifully, you only need to know about 4000 words to be able to read. You'd need to know a lot more than that for English. But the problem is, each word combines with other words for different meaning. You need context.

      I get a feeling this will only teach you basic words. If anyone claims an app alone can teach you a language well enough to be fluent in it or be able to read a paper, I'd have them committed.

      You'll be able to read parts of a sentence, but it won't be enough to figure out what the sentence means because you will lack context.

      You can expect to be able to read signs, and engage in some small talk, but that's about it.
