  • Not that great i pretty sure i saw a similar model for cheaper.

  • i do not think anyone can beat this price, this is 3 years warranty with Windows 7 Professional.

I bought the L750/03C which is the i5 (2nd gen 2410M) version from Hardly Normal for $560 on the weekend.

So for $40 less you get a better processor, an additional 160GB of HDD, but only 1 year warranty (If you have a gold or platinum card you get double warranty = 2yrs).

Not sure how the GPUs stack up tho.

The GPU in that L750 is much better than the one found in the C660.

I have bought many things from MSY over the years because they are cheap. However they have a reputation for not honouring warranties. See:
    http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/News/239171,msy-heads-to-federal…

They wouldn't honour a MB warranty of mine last year but luckily the manufacturer had a repair station close by so I bypassed MSY.
Make sure you check what the 3 yr waranty means, as you may have to send it to a repairer at your cost instead of returning to the store.

As a result they've been forced to put a notice on their front page - http://www.msy.com.au/pdf/ACCCConsumerNotice.pdf

Similar tactics from GameDude in Brisbane.

      • Thank you guys so much, was about to purchase a laptop from them for my dad which was quite cheap but after reading a few of the comments here I'll go elsewhere! These companies try to screw people and are too ignorant of the consequences, it might not be much but it lost them this sale.

    • exactly what did they do wrong? the atomicmpc article you linked to is devoid of any useful info.

For obvious legal reasons I do not want to make inaccurate accusations. In my case they told me that they would need to charge me to test the motherboard, and if it was faulty then they would send it off.
Secondly they had a number of signs in store that were intended to limit their liabilty to the buyer. Under Australian law it is not possible to reduce consumer rights just because their is a disclaimer on a receipt etc. The court made them take those signs down and print the notice linked to by H4lcyon.
If the price is right and the goods are such that warranty support is not important, then go for it. In my view laptops are complex beasts and waranty support is important.
